A NOTE FROM THE GUILD OFFICERS
Happy October!
Fall has finally arrived, it appears. We had a successful first run at the Cumberland Fair. Thank you all of our volunteers and I can’t wait to hear about your experiences!
For once, I’m not working on a Christmas gift this time of year. I’m working on finishing my WIPs. Seems like a good time to do it with the cooler weather and events slowing down (at least I hope they are!)

Calendar/Reminders
Have skeins that need winding? Bring them in and use a ball winder and swift generously provided by Rachael.

Dues
Dues are $20 per year. Our fiscal year restarts in September, so please bring your payment to an upcoming meeting if you'd like to renew. Your support will allow our group to add more classes, vendors, and field trips to our calendar. Please continue to spread the word about the guild to increase our membership, which will benefit us all! If you need more Guild business cards to distribute, ask one of the officers for more.

Guild KAL (Knit-a-Long or Knit Along or....)
As mentioned at December's meeting, we have started a new KAL with the Long Shadows Shawl by ANKESTRiCK. It's a simple, classic design utilizing single-color brioche. The pattern is available for purchase on Ravelry here. If you are participating or would like to see the KAL progress of others, click here for the Ravelry thread.

CUMBERLAND FAIR!
I think it's "fair" to say that our appearance in the Cumberland Fair Exhibition Hall this year was a success! We gave out impromptu knitting lessons, sent newbies home with needles, and shared our love of fiber (and some of us also indulged in delicous fair food!). We are hopeful that our efforts will also help expand our membership. It was a really positive experience.
Since our participation in the fair also generated some income for the guild, we are pleased to be able to waive the cost of annual membership for our members who volunteered their time so generously. Thank you for your enthusiasm!
Also - a shout out to Kristin Irgens for her Best of the Best award for her lovely cardigan!

Knitting Opportunities
We know that once a month isn’t enough knitting time! Here are some local times and places to drop in and knit. Email us with others you may know about or any changes.
- Lighthouse Knitters' Guild of Maine - First Saturday of every month (except holiday weekends) 12:30-3:30pm at the Adult Education building at the Windham High School
- Windham Public Library - Tuesdays 1-3 pm, free

Riverton branch of the Portland Public Library Thursdays 6:30 - 7:30 pm, free

Westbrook Community Center - Fiber Arts room open 9am to 2pm M-F and 9am-noon on Saturday. Free use of cutting tables and sewing machines and time to hang out with other creative individuals.
