Well, e te whānau, it has been a few moons since we last chatted. We have made it through the other side of Hōtoke (Winter), albeit only just! Our entire Waka Ama NZ Office packed up and headed to Australia for the World Distance Champs in August to tautoko our Elite & age division crews, Para crew, and V1 paddlers. The Aussie whānau put on a great event and the whole contingent thoroughly enjoyed themselves - see below for a full wrap up.
Since then, we are into the thick of summer event planning for our 2019-2020 season. So please remember that paddlers will need to be affiliated for the new season - if you have any pātai, just head to our website. Once again we have an exciting line up of events over the summer (although thinking about it too much gives us a few heart palpitations) from Sprint Nats to Takapuna, Secondary School Nationals and LDNs - not to mention the World Sprints in August!! In saying that... please bear with us if we take a little longer than usual to answer any emails☺️
We are still loving our new digs ki te taha o te Waitematā! The cafe in the Hyundai Marine Sports Centre is now open and it is an awesome spot. If you are ever in the area please come down and check it out... you may or may not bump into one of us there - for more information about the cafe follow this link: https://www.akaranaeatery.co.nz/
Finally, as always, we would like to remind all our whānau to be safe out there on the water. Especially as we head into the summer season and our tamariki start heading out on the water. Please check over your gear, ensure your PFDs are still tika and as always kia maanu, kia ora!!
