Finally! A Blatantly Honest Lawyer

As you know, Carter Law Firm is the business I use for speaking and writing, and I do all my client work through a law firm called Venjuris. Venjuris is in the process of updating its website, part which will be new bios for all the lawyers. Until now, each person was responsible for doing their own bio, which felt haphazard and lacked continuity across the firm. I decided for the new site, we were going to create bios based on a template that focused on what prospective clients want to know about us.

I looked through my emails from prospective clients to see what they asked about me, and I kicked the question out to my entrepreneur and lawyer friends. There were some questions that I knew I couldn’t include in the firm’s template, but I felt they were worth answering if, for no other reason, to give people clearer picture of what it means to work with me as a lawyer. These questions inspired me to write My Blatantly Honest Lawyer Bio. What do you think?

October Book Sale

Earlier this year, I had (and won) a dispute with my publisher. As a result, I have every remaining copy of The Legal Side of Blogging for Lawyers and Flash Mob Law that hasn’t been sold. I listed them on Amazon way lower than the original sticker prices. (You have look for the books listed under “See all formats and editions” to get to my copies of Legal Side of Blogging for Lawyers.)

Since October is Self-Promotion Month, I dropped the price for The Legal Side of Blogging for Lawyers even further, to $14.99. My goal is to help people stay out of trouble online, especially companies that can’t afford to hire a lawyer to answer all their questions about the dos and don’ts of creating content.

Rosie Update

Rosie turns 12 this month. Based on her size, she’ll be the equivalent of a 77-year-old human. She’s doing well, but definitely getting older and slowing down. The brown hair on her head is slowly turning white, and she’s developed some arthritis in her back legs. Rosie came to the office with me this week, and except for rolling over three times, she slept all day. When we’re home, she spends most of her time snoozing in front of her fan.

Because of her age and blindness, going to the kennel is stressful for her, even though she’s on good drugs. To accommodate her needs, I’ve decided to cut way back on speaking that involves travel next year. I’m only entertaining invitations from events that will pay my full speaker fee until Rosie goes over the Rainbow Bridge.
