Onboarding...

"LEAVE NO MEMBER BEHIND"

On-boarding is the most important part of the member journey. If you get it right, your members will stick around longer, saving you time and effort chasing absentees or dealing with cancellations. Although only around 10% of your members will be new at any point in time, it's worth putting in up to 50% of your effort into on-boarding. Try to leave no member behind.

Think about your new members’ first experience. What standards do you have in place to ensure the joining experience is excellent, and how do you measure success? Simple things like a welcome message can give you early engagement insights. A welcome session [aka induction] will help retention. Other good examples of first experiences might include a first group exercise class, body composition analysis, new member challenge, myzone workout, or PT session. Choose 2 or 3 key actions that you will try to get every new member to experience, and then measure engagement.

Example new member actions:
  • Welcome Message
  • Welcome session [induction]
  • Introductory class / First group exercise session
  • Body composition analysis / weigh-in
  • Challenge sign-up
  • Exercise programme/goal setting appointment
  • Fitness test / heart rate workout
  • PT session
  • High-five / nudge SMS

eGym Insights

eGym InsightsIt was a pleasure to be involved in the eGym insights roadshows last month. We met with eGym clients, prospects and partners up and down the country, and had some great discussions and debates.

While the brief was to deliver educational content to “activate your gym for success” we learnt a lot from the delegates too, and from our fellow presenters, of course.

Read the full write up of the event on the GGFit blog.

We are running a series of follow-up webinars; starting with a live Q&A with Michael Kloncz (eGym UK Implementation Manager) and Guy Griffiths (GGFit) this Thursday 10th Oct at 2pm.

The MW Challenge Club

This free club has been created specifically for sites with the mywellness system and Challenge app. There are some great insights and tips for any system though, and challenges can be adapted.

pumpkin rowThis month, we're running a "row the channel/atlantic" challenge. Pick a stretch of water, check the distance, and get all your members to donate their rowing km (or miles) to the total.

See if you can cross the channel 4 times like Sarah Thomas. Do it in a pumpkin for Halloween like this guy. Include a charity element if you want. But remember, this is a non-competitive, inclusive, simple challenge to engage all your members, even if they just add a few metres to the total.

Find out more about this fun, inclusive, engaging challenge for your members here.

If you want to set-up more inclusive fitness challenges for your members, share ideas and measure the success of your challenges, join today and get a 12-month challenge calendar template and examples to keep your members engaged. The mywellness challenge book will be available later this month. Join below for more content, and free webinars.
