From Sunrise to Moonrise
Color Photography by Amanda Quinby
In October at the Coop, Amanda Quinby exhibits new work in color photography, with a solo show called From Sunrise to Moonrise. She has selected 14 photographs that represent the passage of a day - although the pictures have been taken in many different locations, including Europe, Mexico, North Carolina, Maine, and Arizona.
“The reason I chose the this theme is that I see it as a way to include a range of subjects, a way to branch out from the landscapes and nature that has been most typical of my past work. I’m becoming increasingly drawn to urban photography. This show gives me the opportunity to explore the urban and the abstract without abandoning the subjects of nature.”
The show is arranged on the wall as a sort of narrative. It starts with the sunrise and morning light then moves into cityscapes, urban abstracts, studies of afternoon light, evening and ending withg the moonrise.”
Meet the artist at the reception for From Sunrise to Moonrise on Friday, October 4 from 5 to 7 p.m.
