October Tt Mentoring Happenings!
Community Mentors,
Happy October! The weather is changing, and so is the list of what to do together. This may be the last month of getting outside before the cold really hits, so I included a few outdoor ideas. Get out while you can without a winter hat!

Last week I attended a training at Twinfield where we talked about trauma and equity and it was a good reminder to me about my place, and how I can best support youth. As a person who likes to look at the bright side, this video on empathy reminded me (once again) that painting the silver lining is not really helpful to others, and that by just being with youth and listening to what they have to say is a good focus for me. I included the video - let me know what you think of it!

Have any ideas for a group activity, or mentor meet up conversation?  I would love to plan something for anyone that is looking to connect with other mentors or with other pairs. Email me any ideas, and Sam and I can start planning our next event or training!

Call or email any time - that is what I am here for.

Empathy vs. Sympathy

Check out this video on having empathy over empathy - what does it make you think of in your mentoring friendship? I am wondering is this would be a good a dinner discussion on supporting our mentees and what that can look like. Email me any other thoughts or ideas!

Reporting your time!

I love to share what you are doing with others....so thanks for sharing!
There are three options here.
  1. Enter it into the civicorps database
  2. Send me an email with each date, how long you were together, and just 1 sentence about what you did (you can tell me more but all I need is one sentence).
  3. Call me on the phone with your calendar in hand. We can talk about what you did, and I can help you work through any situations that have come up for you in the past few months.
I am happy with any of these options, so thanks for letting me know what works best for you!
Thanks again for taking the time
