Enjoy the sunshine today! It may not last very long, Autumn is definitely here.

There's still plenty to do here at the Centre this Autumn. There are several new and regular activity groups to take part in. Read all about the events and activity news below.

This month is the ever popular Children's Nearly New Sale on 12th October, come along for some great pre-used and pre-loved bargains.

Anyone who would like to help to set up a third sale a year as well as the October & March dates - contact Maureen Richardson, tel 01524 811316 or email centremanager@haltocentre.org - we can't do it without you!

Next month on 9th November is our Roller Disco. Tickets are on sale now.

Also in November are Neighbourhood Plan consultation meetings on Saturday 2nd November, 9am to 12 noon, and Thursday 7th November from 5pm to 8pm.

Then at the end of December - which doesn't seem so far away now - is the New Year's Eve Ceilidh and tickets are on sale for this too. This is a very popular event and we advise you to book your tickets as soon as possible.

There is a filing cabinet for sale, a bargain at £25, 4 drawers, lockable. Useful for home or office storage. More info below.

Don't miss our next Children's Nearly New Sale on Saturday 12th October from 10am to 12 noon.

All tables are sold out.  We cannot take any more names for the waiting list.

As usual you will find a wide variety of children’s goods, including nursery equipment, toys, clothes and relevant household items. If you haven't been to our wonderful Children's Nearly New Sale before, do come along, there is plenty to choose from.
 
Entry is 50p for adults, free for children.
 
Refreshments available in the Snack Bar and upstairs in the Coffee Shop.

Donations of cakes and raffle prizes are very welcome. Volunteers to help on the day will also be appreciated. 
 
Funds raised on the day will help to finance continuing improvements to our Centre and its facilities.

More Events 

Next week is a Lantern Weaving Workshop on Thursday 10th October from 2.00 – 3.30pm.

The cost is £15 per person which includes the materials, stand and battery lights. 

BOOKING ESSENTIAL as space is limited - do call if you want to attend this workshop, still a little space available.

Roller Disco

Roller Disco is here on Saturday 9th November. 

Sessions are 1.30pm, 3.30pm and 5.30pm

ALL Tickets cost £6 and include roller skates (size 8 juniors to 13 adults) and safety equipment. Children under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult.

Fancy dress is positively encouraged!

Group discount – Ten tickets for £54.00. 

It’s a great idea for a child’s or group’s party too, why not hire the meeting room upstairs as well to have your party food and birthday cake, and carry on the fun – subject to availability so snap it up as soon as possible!  If you would like to book a session for your group contact the Centre to discuss.

Refreshments available in the Snack Bar in the Main Hall, and from the Coffee Shop during normal opening hours.

Volunteers are needed to help set up, give out wrist bands, serve refreshments and clear away afterwards.

New Year's Eve Ceilidh 

We are holding a New Year's Eve Ceilidh from 7.30pm on 31st December 2019 to 12.30am, 1st January 2020.

Ceilidh band Jig-Run-Rig will be back for a great night to celebrate New Year's Eve.

This event is always popular and a lot of fun so don't miss out, get your tickets early to avoid disappointment.

Tickets cost £14 for adults and children aged 11 years and above.

This is a ticket only event - tickets must be purchased in advance and are on sale now in the Coffee Shop and Halton Newsagents.

Activity Groups

Fancy having a go at Walking Netball? More netball players welcome, whether you last played this sport years ago or more recently, come and join the Walking Netball Group. The next session is on tonight, Wednesday 2nd October from 7.00 – 8.00 pm – FIRST SESSION FREE.

Enjoy-a-Ball currently has some space in the after school session, contact Paul for details, email: paul.darwent@enjoy-a-ball.com or call 07879 896156. The cost is is £6 per per child, payable half termly. Note that there is no Enjoy-a-Ball on next Friday 4th October. 

Paul will soon have dates for half term holiday workshops, more details later so check out the website now and then or see the newsletter.

Indoor Bowling is on Tuesday afternoons from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Bowls can be provided and there is a tea/coffee break. The cost is £2 per session including refreshments. The group also has some social meals out in Autumn, Christmas and Spring. Contact Barbara tel: 01524 771438 for more information.

On Friday 11th October is Luncheon Club for over 55's, which meets on the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month from 10am to 1.30pm. The next talk is about the Seychelles, 'Jewels in the Ocean', a natural paradise unspoilt by the modern world, by Barbara Broadbent. There is space for new participants so do come and you will be made very welcome. Don’t be shy, they are a friendly bunch.  

The cost is £5 which includes an informal talk or other entertainment, tea or coffee on arrival, a tasty lunch and desert, another drink afterwards, and a chance to meet people and have a chat. Please book in advance with Maureen tel: 01524 811316 or e-mail: centremanager@haltoncentre.org 

Reading Group meets on the 2nd Monday each month and the next meeting is 14th October (not 7th October) from 10 - 11am in the Coffee Shop. Collect the book from Halton library or drop into the meeting and meet the group. Contact Sarah on tel: 01524 811160 for more details. 

Phil's Fitness is on Mondays 9.30am  to 10.25am, cost £5 per session. Ring to book your place as space is limited. If you are interested in coming but can't make Monday mornings, contact him as he is hoping to set up an early afternoon session too, call Phil on 07783027589.

On Wednesday 16th October is the next RSPB talk at 2.30pm, on the theme of Pied flycatchers in SWT Castramon Wood” – An illustrated talk by Brian Smith chairman of the North Solway ringing group, who has been monitoring the birds in this Galloway wood for over 20 years. 

Justine's new Pilates Class started this week and it is full but she's hoping to put on another class soon. Contact Justine for details on 07484 850320.
