SUPPORT OUR CAMPAIGN
Why do people really become addicted to ice? What stigmas do they face and how do they recover?

Help us tell the stories of of ice addiction and recovery in our community.

TAC is seeking your support to fund the design and production of a high quality catalogue documenting the powerful stories of six Canberrans, whose experiences with ice addiction and recovery have been captured in the upcoming exhibition On Thin Ice.

'People with addictions are part of our community and the stigma and isolation too often placed on them only makes the arduous journey to recovery more difficult. By sharing these stories, we hope to use the arts to encourage empathy in the broader community and to promote recovery as a supported, collective effort.'
- Rauny Worm, TAC CEO

CHINAME by XIAO KE × ZI HAN

Research Residency: Tuggeranong Arts Centre, 1-9 November 2019

中文名 – 小珂 x 子涵

驻留研究期:塔格拉诺艺术中心  2019年11月1日-9日

About CHINAME
The Shanghai-based artist duo XIAO KE × ZI HAN attempt to create a temporary contact zone for ‘Chinese’ identity by researching different regions and presenting on-location documentary portraits of common people.
“Our name is given, yet we try to explain who we are.”

How is Chineseness defined? Its significance shifts upon its context, and its impact on contemporary geopolitics is felt on an everyday level. How does the young generation in China perceive Chineseness? What about the diasporic Chinese outside of China? In this entangled web of perceptions, the artists broach the question: ‘What is Chinese—is it an imagined community or is it real?’

Lecture Performance
5pm, Sunday 3rd November 2019

To introduce CHINAME to Canberra and provide audiences with background on the project so far, XIAO KE × ZI HAN will present a free lecture performance at Tuggeranong Arts Centre. Join them to find out more about the project and how you can be involved.

Free event, register here: https://www.trybooking.com/BETMF
