Hello Saints of Cross Lutheran Church! It’s so good to be here, and I am very honored that I am to be your bridge pastor and enter ministry with you during this time of transition.
Many of you know already the most important thing that there is to know about me, and that is I am married to your Sunday morning pianist Kathy Beito. I have already been informed that she has seniority over me, and I will not argue with that.
I am arriving here after spending just over a year as the interim pastor at Redeemer Lutheran in White Bear Lake, MN. Before that interim, I served Assistant to the Bishop of the Northwest Synod of WI. Prior to my wonderful five years on synod staff, I served the saints of Our Savior’s in Beldenville and Rush River Lutheran Church. Before that is real ancient history, but I served a congregation in Pontiac, Illinois, and I was a missionary in Hong Kong.
Kathy and I have four wonderful children ages 16-23, and we live in the town of Hudson.
My non-churchy passions are weightlifting, and travel. I used to love fishing and gardening, but life seems to have gotten in the way of those hobbies for now.
There are a few things that may help you understand or know me better. I am a Packer Fan, but ours is a mixed marriage, and proves that I can love Viking Fans too. The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is where I was born and raised. You can take the boy out of the UP, but you cannot take the UP out of the boy. I am a recovering alcoholic and addict and I make no bones about it as that is who I am. I have been clean and sober for 18 years. I like to think that I am funny and believe that laughter is holy. My hope is that we spend a lot of time laughing together.
This will be a time of holy experimenting as we transition and get ready for the future. Please know that what we try may make eyes roll, but all experiments are by their nature temporary. We will not know or grow if we do not at least try some new things.
Please do not hesitate to call or email me especially if there is pie involved.
God Bless,
Pastor John

You are invited!
As you may have heard, Cross is conducting the Continuing to Reach Mortgage Reduction Campaign. All households are invited to attend an informational gathering on Sunday, October 20 after Service. There will be a brief presentation about the current mortgage and an opportunity for questions and feedback. We will also be sharing ways in which households can help.

CROSS LUTHERAN CHOIR
Choir rehearsals began on Wednesday, September 25th (at 7:30, immediately following worship), with a GREAT turnout! IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO JOIN! It is my hope that it will be more convenient for everyone to remain after worship, and have the choir practice immediately following.
I am excited to be your director again, for the about the third time since 1977, when I organized our very 1st choir here at Cross!! Like I have said, I am “kind of like an old tire that you keep retreading!!”
We really need new members, as we have lost several in moves and for health reasons over the last few years. Especially needed are tenors and basses. Without those voices we are very limited in the kind of music we are able to sing. You do not need to have a trained voice, only enjoy singing. Together we can make a” joyful noise!!” I am hoping to do a few anthems with our Praise Band this year also!!!
I believe our choir is vital to the ministry here at Cross, so with commitment of new members we will continue!
Everyone ages Grade 8 through 100 are welcome! If anyone needs a ride either to or from home to attend, we will see that is available.
I'm looking forward to a great year! If you have questions or concerns, please give me a call me a call or email.
