Dear Chico Peace & Justice Center Community,

The story of our town’s work for justice and peace continues to unfold as we approach our 6th decade!

We are pleased to announce that we have ended the summer temporary suspension of operations, and effective immediately the doors of the Chico Peace & Justice Center are again open. Our new office hours will be 12 am to 5 pm,  Tuesday through Friday. Recently, The Board of Directors for The Chico Peace & Justice Center (CPJC) held a retreat to review the health, work and strategic planning of our organization, and importantly, to design a plan of operations moving forward that matches our resources.

In the retreat we made the following decisions:

The CPJC has the financial resources to continue much of its activities, and most importantly the capacity to retain the downtown Chico space (526 Broadway) that is a hub of our activist community.

The CPJC does not have the financial resources at this time to maintain salaried staff. Thus we have eliminated the two part-time staff positions of Executive Director and Human Resources Manager.

The CPJC can and will continue most of its programs and activities – as well as grow them – by switching to a program-based model of activities: individual programs will run independently under the umbrella of the CPJC.

The CPJC will grow the current Board of Directors from seven members to ten, and dedicate their work to CPJC oversight and fundraising.

We're excited to welcome Patti Savage, a Certified Public Account, and Blake Hollingsworth, our former Human Resources Manager, as new additions to our body.

Thank you all, and we look forward to sharing more about our exciting new directions at our Annual Dinner Fundraiser on Saturday, October 27, 2019 at 5:30 p.m.

With our warmest regards,
CPJC Board of Directors
