New versions of the EIN Handbook


The EIN Handbook about implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights is now available in Turkish and the Russian version is currently being finalised.

EIN stands with the Bulgarian Helsinki Committee    

 
A request to remove the legal status of BHC, a member of EIN's, has been submitted. BHC is the largest human rights NGO in Bulgaria. This request is a move to silence civil society and is completely unacceptable. More than 100 Bulgarian and international NGOs support BHC, and so does EIN! Read more here
 

EIN and DEJ train young lawyers from Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine on ECtHR judgment implementation 


On 9 July 2019, EIN had the pleasure of welcoming young lawyers from Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine on 9 July, and introduce them to the process of implementation, or ‘execution’, of ECtHR judgments.

 

 

The participants had been brought to Strasbourg by EIN's member organisation, the European Human Rights Advocacy Centre (EHRAC), as part of EHRAC's annual Legal Skills Development Programme (LSDP).

How to advocate for the implementation of 'standard' cases?

A Strasbourg Court judgment is not the end!


On 5th November EIN will organise a multi-stakeholders workshop on implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.This event is co-organised with the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, and supported by OSJI. The outcome of the event will be made public on the EIN website.  

 

?Do you know about ECtHR cases closed prematurely  

 
EIN is looking to document examples of cases which have been closed by the Committee of Ministers before justice has been done in the case – either for the applicants concerned, or through sufficient reforms taking place in the society as a whole. If you are familiar with any such cases, please submit an email to contact@einnetwork.org, giving the case reference and a very brief summary.  
 

EIN welcomes new member KISA


Since July, KISA has joined EIN, increasing our membership to 37 NGOs/ individuals from 24 European countries. EIN has also reviewed its membership and partnership policy. Willing to know more? Click here.

The Council of Bars and Law Societies in Europe published in June 2019 its recommendations on how to improve the ECHR machinery. Training on Rule 9s are part of their proposals. More here

On 6 September 2019, EIN convened a quarterly civil society briefing on the European Court of Human Rights cases scheduled for review at the 1355th Human Rights Meeting of the Committee of Ministers' Deputies. Read more

Committee of Ministers holds its quarterly meeting on the implementation of ECtHR judgments


On 23-25 September, the Committee of Ministers held its 1355th Human Rights meeting during which it examined the state of implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights. Further information on the cases debated and decisions adopted can be found here. The indicative list of cases to be debated at the next meeting in December 2019 can be found here.

Increasing number of Rule 9 submissions in 2019    

 
To date in 2019, already more than 100 submissions by NGOs and NHRIs have been submitted with regard to the execution of judgments. A great success for the EIN Network, its members and partners! You can find the latest Rule 9s here below.
