This week new research shows how AI can detect pneumonia key findings in chest X-ray scans in under 10 seconds, US AdvaMed invests $120m in 12 biomedical startups from Taiwan and a new AI method improves control of prosthetic hands.
Tesla will acquire DeepScale, a computer vision start-up that could help the company develop fully driverless vehicles, CNBC reported on Tuesday.

The news was confirmed by DeepScale CEO Forrest Iandola who wrote on Twitter that he joined the Tesla autopilot team.

AI can detect pneumonia in X-ray scans in 10 seconds
Researchers from Intermountain Healthcare and Stanford University have created a new AI system able to reduce chest X-rays scanning times considerably.

For context, traditional AI scanning systems would take around 20 minutes to complete this task. The new AI will only take under 10 seconds.

US AdvaMed invests $120m in 12 startups from Taiwan
AdvaMed has invested $120 million in 12 biomedical startups from the Taiwan Tech Arena during The MedTech Conference 2019 in Boston, US last week.

The sum was awarded to the startups via AdvaMed and from the US military, the software company Hewlett-Packard and the medical device firm Johnson & Johnson.

The findings from The University of Texas at Dallas were shows at the 2019 IEEE International Symposium on Measurement and Control in Robotics last month.
