The 2019 Festival in Review – The Takeaways, the Fun & the Photos

Nordisk Panorama Film Festival has come to an end and the 30th edition gathered over 800 independent filmmakers and decision-makers from all over the world. They all came to Malmö to enjoy six days of films, seminars, sessions, market, forum, meetings, networking – and good Nordic fun. We would like to thank all of you who were there and we hope to see you in Malmö again next year 17-22 September, 2020. THE AWARD WINNERS

The Winners of Nordisk Panorama Film Festival 2019:


Best Nordic Documentary: 
Once Aurora by Stian ServossBenjamin Langeland (Norway), 2019, 71 min.

Honourable Mention:
Scheme Birds by Ellen Fiske & Ellinor Hallin (Sweden), 2019, 90 min.

About the Award
The Best Nordic Documentary Award is presented by the documentary jury to one of the films in the Nordic Documentary Competition. The award goes to the director(s) of the film. 14 documentaries competed for the Nordic Documentary Award. The prize is €11.000 and is sponsored by the Nordic public broadcasters DR, YLE, RUV, NRK and SVT.


Best Nordic Short Film:
Sorry, Not Sorry by Julia Thelin (Sweden), 2019, 15 min.

Honourable Mention 1:
The Stroker by Pilvi Takala (Finland, UK), 2019, 16 min.

Honourable Mention 2:
No Ill Will by Andrias Høgenni (Denmark), 2018, 22 min.

About the AwardThe Best Nordic Short Film Award is presented by the short film jury to one of the 20 films in the Nordic Short Film Competition. The prize-winning film qualifies for consideration in the Short Film Category of the Annual Academy Awards® without the standard theatrical run, provided that the film otherwise complies with the Academy rules. The award goes to the director(s) of the film. The prize of €6.000 is sponsored by Nordisk Panorama Film Festival.

New Nordic Voice Award:
Doc: Lindy the Return of Little Light by Ida Persson Lännerberg (Sweden), 2019, 72 min.



Short: She-Pack by Fanny Ovesen (Norway), 2018, 19 min.

About the Award
The New Nordic Voice competition introduces promising Nordic filmmakers. The works have not previously been screened in the Nordisk Panorama competition programme, and the twelve films that competed for the award were among the first releases by the filmmaker. The prize of €5.000 is sponsored by Film i Skåne and AVEK.



Young Nordic – Children’s Choice Award:

The Evil Principal (Den onde Rektor Svint og jakten på den tapte kunnskapen) by Ida Hansen Eldøen, (Norway), 2019, 14 min.

About the Award
The films in the Young Nordics programme compete for the love of our most critical audience. We’ve asked the youngest viewers to tell us which film they liked the best. Nine films competed for the Young Nordic – Children’s Choice Award. The prize of €1.500 is sponsored by Nordisk Panorama Film Festival.



City of Malmö’s Audience Award

Humanity on Trial by Jonas Bruun (Denmark), 2019, 93 min.

About the Award
To receive the City of Malmö’s Audience Award at Nordisk Panorama Film Festival is among the finest appreciations a filmmaker can get. The general audience voted among all of the Nordic short films and documentaries competing in the main competition programmes. The Nordisk Panorama Audience Award prize of €2.500 is sponsored by the City of Malmö.

NORDISK PANORAMA FORUM 2019

More than 330 film professionals from 29 countries attended this year’s 26th edition of Nordisk Panorama Forum! 24 projects pitched to 80 decision-makers while 21 projects were presented in one-to-one meetings. A record number of 660 pre-booked meetings took place over the two afternoons of the forum. We are looking forward to following the projects, seeing the results and hopefully welcoming back the finished films at Nordisk Panorama Film Festival. See the photos here.

NORDISK PANORAMA MARKET 2019

Nordisk Panorama Market was bustling with meetings, seminars and industry events. 250 films in the market catalogue with 22 Nordic shorts and docs screened as Closed Market Screenings. The Nordic Short Film Meet-Up presented 9 new short film projects to 37 decision-makers and 81 meetings! Work-in-Progress presented 6 new documentary projects nearing the finish line to more than 60+ industry professionals and our new initiative with Expert Round Tables was a successful new feature at the market. See our photos from market here.
THE DOK.INCUBATOR PREVIEW

Dok.incubator gave the festival audience a sneak preview of the upcoming feature films developed in the rough cut workshop. Post-production awards worth together more than €25,000 were given to the teams of 'Acasa, My Home',  'Lessons of Love'  and 'Once Upon a Time, Congo Mirador' for their dedication to the projects, courage and open-mindedness to take advantage of the opportunities dok.incubator provides to the fullest.
