Next week, our wonderful friend Angela is bringing Qigong to The Breathing Space and we’re delighted to offer you a FREE taster session to try out this wonderful style of mindful movement.

Similar to Tai Chi - but without the martial element - Qigong is a traditional Chinese exercise system which uses gentle, flowing movements inspired by nature. All moves are practised in an upright standing position  - an adapted seated version can be offered if preferred.

Join us on Thursday 10th October at 7.15pm as we integrate mind, body and breath, and enjoy 60 minutes of tranquility, enrichment and fun as we explore Qigong together.

MORE THAN A STUDIO

Bridge the Gap

A local charity run by two very inspiring women, Jennifer and Nikki who work tirelessly to bridge the gap in mental health services and fervently believe "The time for change is now". Their mission is to bring practical and effective strategies to families and young people, not only in times of crisis but throughout the development of our children so that they can be proactive, empowered and confident to tackle difficult emotions and circumstances when they inevitably arise.

Each month Jen and Nikki run a range of courses and workshops, on topics such as Understanding Behaviour, Supporting an Anxious Child, The Impact of Social Media on mental health.

(Growing Resilience In Teens)

At The Breathing Space, we're passionate about emotional and mental well-being. We share Bridge the Gap's belief that to care for emotional health we should be proactive and gather the necessary tools when we are feeling well.

We know you want the same for your teens.
The teenage years are increasingly challenging to navigate and we believe Yoga can provide a wealth of tools for young people to build self confidence and resilience. In a world where we often focus on connecting externally, in our GRIT course we gently explore the internal physical, emotional and mental experience. In a nurturing and supportive way, teens can begin to develop their ability to recognise and engage with their experience to explore self care strategies.

THIS MONTH'S WORKSHOP
Aparigraha - Letting go

As Autumn progresses and the trees' leaves turn splendid shades of red and gold before they are released to the season, Sammie brings us our first in-depth Workshop, to explore the Yogic notion of Aparigraha or 'non possessiveness'. The practice of Aparigraha can take many forms. On the mat it means to seek to let go of preconceptions about our body, mind and asana practice and to release and let go in a posture. Off the mat, the application can be even broader: from not holding on to excess superfluous material possessions, to letting go of long-held but faulty identities, behaviours or beliefs. Sometimes it's just finding a little more forgiveness for ourselves and others to let go of past hurts or disappointments.
Whatever stage you are at on your personal journey, you are most welcome to join us for this interactive, insightful afternoon.
Join Sammie for this wonderfully holistic and nurturing workshop as she guides us through a practice thoughtfully designed to allow us to reflect on and release ourselves from our excess baggage.
