Assistant Professor of Music- Music Education Choral
Qualifications:
Terminal degree in Music Education (ABD considered). Candidate must have a minimum of three years of successful K-12 music teaching experience and experience teaching at the collegiate level. Candidate must demonstrate potential for continued scholarly research leading to articles in appropriate publications. The accomplishments of candidates for this position must reflect their commitment to working with an inclusive student population, and their ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the university.
Position Expectations:
The successful candidate will oversee the Choral Music Ed program. Teaching duties may include undergraduate and graduate music education classes (online and on-campus), conduct a choral ensemble and supervising music education residents. The faculty member will advise undergraduate students and serve as advisor to graduate theses and dissertations. Other expectations include maintaining positive relationships with area school music educators, actively recruiting students for the Music Education program, service on School of Music, College of Communication and Fine Arts, and University committees and service to professional organizations within the field. Professional engagement, including publications and presentations at state, regional, national, and international professional conferences, is expected.

Scheidt School of Music is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music and has a full-time faculty of 43 with approximately 425 music majors. Degree programs include: Bachelor of Music in performance, music history, composition, music education, music business, recording technology, jazz and studio music performance, jazz and studio music composition/arranging and commercial music; Master of Music in performance, musicology, Orff-Schulwerk, music education, pedagogy, jazz and studio music, composition and conducting; Doctor of Philosophy in musicology and music education; Doctor of Musical Arts in performance, composition, and conducting.
