Parent Meeting Recap
Basics - Next week I'll give you a recap of the new program (Rooted) that we're piloting for the Diocese. Please make sure to review that when it's sent.
- Drop off/Pick Up - IN your child's classroom ALL year. We will also NOT be unlocking the side parking lot entrance door. Please don't plan to use that or tell you child to meet you there. Come inside.
- New time means some adjustments - If you attend 8am Mass, please plan on staying with your child until their teacher arrives (hopefully by 9am). Please plan to be here by 9:10am so we can use the ENTIRE hour of class.
- Books/Folders - Come back and forth EVERY week, so you can do the "With my Family" section and catch up, if your child misses class.
- Weekly Emails - please read them, some weeks will have more info than others, but it's all meant to help you, help your child, grow in faith and be prepared for class.
- Parent Volunteer Time - just as with last year, for everyone who is NOT teaching, you are expected to sign up for TWO DIFFERENT DATES, PER CHILD when you could be asked to do behind the scenes work, sub or assist in class. This doesn't mean we will ask you, it simply gives me options of parents to contact.
- Behavior - Rescpect for both teachers and the other students. Disrespectful behavior is not going to be tolerated. If disrupting class, teachers can send the kids to spend that hour with me. If it continues, parents will be called to sit in during class.
- A little more on behavior - we can't stress the importance of Mass. All too often we hear kids making comments/excuses for their poor behavior by saying, "Well, we don't go to church on Sunday, anyway." What we do here is meant to be supplemental to what you do at home. The faith is not going to make sense outside of the context of Mass. Please make this a priority!
- Children's Missalette - to help you keep your kids focused during Mass and to make Mass more meaningful, consider The Children's Missalette. It's a monthly subscription, where your child will receive a new Missalette for every Sunday and Holy Day that month, plus access to videos and a weekly story card about a saint or feast day. If as a parish we get 50 subscriptions, it will cost $10/month instead of the normal $20. Consider signing up to help your child follow through during Mass and stay engaged.
