Rutgers Parents: We Need Your Feedback

Dear Rutgers Parents,
R-Comm (Rutgers–New Brunswick Communication & Marketing) is trying to better understand thoughts and perceptions of Rutgers-New Brunswick among parents of its current students. As part of this research we are interested in gauging brand perception through a 90-minute session comprised of eight-10 parents of a current Rutgers student. During this phone “chat session” R-Comm will facilitate a conversation to understand and probe into current perspectives of the university, as well as gauge resonance of potential messages to best position the university.

Session Info:
Wednesday, October 9 at 9 AM
Phone conference information will be emailed to registrants.

Career Exploration Nights

Throughout the year, we offer Career Exploration Nights (CEN) for each career cluster. CENs provide students an opportunity to ask recent alumni questions about their career paths from the safety of a group of peers.

Each event begins with refreshments and an introductory training session before transitioning into a larger room where students sit at tables designated by occupations and have a discussion led by recent alumni. This event is an excellent opportunity to explore various career paths in a more informal environment.

Each event counts as a #RutgersWorks Free Tuition Challenge (http://careers.rutgers.edu/challenge) stamp. Attend more than one event to receive multiple stamps.
  • Free and open to all students.
  • Enjoy delicious hors d'oeuvres.
  • It’s ideal for first-year students who are still deciding on a future career path or even seniors interested in networking with alumni.
  • Learn from alumni what it is like to work in various fields. These events are an excellent opportunity to explore in a friendly and informal environment.
  • Attire is "come as you are." We do not require students to dress up for Career Exploration Night events. Casual attire is fine!
  • You can attend more than one! There is no reason you can't explore different career paths that may interest you.

Zimmerli Museum Updates

New Exhibitions and Upcoming Programs
Now Open: A Celebration of the Books of Vladimir Radunsky
Opening October 5: Intimate Details: Prints by James Tissot and Home is Where…

On October 15, art historian Oliver A. I. Botar presents "Charles Sirato’s Journey to the Dimensionist Manifesto and Beyond," which explores how the Hungarian intellectual Charles Sirató (aka Károly Tamkó Sirató) inspired artists featured in the exhibition Dimensionism: Modern Art in the Age of Einstein. Botar discusses Sirató’s role in the Hungarian avant-garde in the 1920s; his knowledge of relativity and the space-time continuum; and his contacts with members of the Parisian avant-garde of the early 1930s. The talk also considers the effect that the Manifesto’s virtual disappearance from art historical record had on its author. Organized by the Department of Art History, Rutgers University, and the Zimmerli Art Museum, with support from the Salgo Trust for Education.

Music at the Museum kicks off a new season! This concert series features classical and jazz musicians from the faculty of Rutgers Community Arts (formerly Mason Gross School of the Arts Extension Division), inviting visitors of all ages to enjoy art and music side-by-side. On October 20, the program pays tribute to the new exhibition Home is Where… As the most intimate of musical art forms, chamber music is a medium in which composers have often expressed a personal connection to their homelands. Nostalgia, praise, and even heartache resonate through works from a variety of eras.

The Zimmerli Art Museum is located at 71 Hamilton Street on the College Avenue Campus. Admission to the museum, as well as the programs listed, are free and open to the public. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for updates!
