Happy Remembrance Day Everyone!
Well, one of the biggest things to happen in Ottawa was the opening of the long awaited LRT. I had the fun experience to ride it end to end last month and it's quite impressive (when it's working and really, that is most of the time). If you haven't tried it get out and give it a whirl! If you buy a single trip pass you can ride it end to end and back for the one price. The one ticket is good for 90 minutes so even if you get out of a station and come back in before the 90 minutes you're good to ride. There are always people at the platform and ticket machines to help you if you need.
If you're wanting to step out to pay respects on Remembrance day - November 11th - Ottawa is one of the nicest places to do it with many options available. The Royal Yacht Britannia, formerly the floating official residence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Sailing the seas for more than 40 years, the yacht was decommissioned on Dec. 11, 1997. At the moment of decommissioning, exactly one minute past three, all the clocks on board were stopped. After sailing more than one million miles around the globe, her last official voyage brought Charles, HRH The Prince of Wales, home from Hong Kong, after the formal handover of the city state back to the People’s Republic of China. ...read more...

People love repeating these age-old expressions about money — especially when they justify our spending habits.
“There’s no such thing as a free lunch.”
“Money can’t buy happiness.”
“You can’t take it with you when you go.”
But are common misconceptions putting a dent in your budget and lifestyle?

[Note: This website says "Register Free", but it may request money later to actually connect, somewhat like Match.com etc. Which doesn't make it a bad thing, just something to keep in mind.]
Golden Girls Lifestyle is a website designed to introduce people who don't want to - or can't afford to - spend their retirement alone. For some of us there may be a nanny suite in the basement of one of our children's homes and if that suits you wonderful, but others may be wishing to stay in their big house that is too expensive and difficult for them alone, or wish to sell their home and rent but renting a place alone eats up a huge amount of money that might have been used to travel, have fun etc. Maybe you're... ...read more...

Is this something we really need? Or perhaps it's better to consider it along the lines of "pure research" leading to advances in other applications. Yes, it would be nice to avoid runaway carts in the parking lot, or naughty children running one at speed into our ankles. Ford has taken inspiration from the technology that stops its cars having accidents and applied a similar system to the Ford Self-Braking Cart. Most Ford vehicles now come with the option of Pre-Collision Assist complete with Pedestrian... ...read more...
