Ocean Going

Our team's boat is now repaired and functional. Jim and a couple other guys are in the middle of a several-day voyage to get the boat out to the supply city nearest our village.

After the first leg, they had to shore up a couple minor issues with the boat, and are now underway again. Please pray that the trip would be smooth and uneventful.

In the last couple of weeks, Jim and a crew of Miobo guys finished clearing our plot of land, so we are now poised to ship building supplies out. Many things have fallen into place in the last few weeks. Over the past couple of years, as plans kept getting delayed due to circumstances out of our control, we decided to just trust God's timing for house-building. And now we have seen many long-awaited things finally fall into place, all within the past few weeks.

In Other News

In the past few days, Hudson broke his front two teeth off. He actually did this back in August, too (insert boy-family memes), and at that time he and Jim flew off-island to get the quality dental care he needed. With Jim now being on a boat in the middle of nowhere, Hudson and I (Rachel) will fly out first thing in the morning to get his teeth taken care of. Noah and Max will stay here with friends. The severity of damage to Hudson's dental nerves will determine how long Hudson and I are gone. Please pray for our trip. Hudson had a rather traumatic experience with the dentist last time around, so please pray for his heart. He's fighting quite the mental battle about all of this. Pray that the damage is minimal, requiring less invasive treatment.

We have so much to praise God for!

Yesterday, as I was learning that Hudson and I would have to leave the country on rather short notice, while Jim is out of town, I chose to reject stress and embrace gratitude. Before long, I really could only think of all the ways God so lovingly prepared every little detail to make this week as smooth as possible. I could literally tell you 50 things, big and small, that He did in preparation for us, knowing this eventful week was coming. And I know there are hundreds more that I don't even realize.

As I was getting some things ready for the trip, a big mosquito caught my eye, and I found myself wholly intent on getting it. I was jumping, squatting, running like a crazy person, zeroed in on one single mission: getting that mosquito. In the midst of my acrobatics, I heard the song "Goodness of God" by Bethel Music, one line of which says "Your Goodness is running after, running after me," and it was so obvious that through all of this, God has been every bit as determined to care for us as I was to get that mosquito.

So, please join us in thanking our oh-so loving Heavenly Father as He carries us through all the unforeseen events. And please do continue to pray for health, safety, and above all, that our hearts would honor Him in all we do. Pray for our precious friends who are keeping our other boys, that Noah and Max would not be too much of a burden on their already-full load.

In His Grip,
