Afile - Lucette van den Berg & Alan Bern
'Afile' is an EP with 4 new Yiddish sings composed by Alan Bern. They are originally composed for the project 'Yesoymim/ Weeskes', which was part of the first Yiddish Waves Festival 2008 in Leeuwarden.
In this project, Lucette van den Berg, singer and artistic leader of the festival, selected an anthology of 21 Yiddish poems. Alan Bern choose four poems from female poets of this collection and made compositions on them. Alan Bern's compositions are masterpieces of their own, with influences from classical music,
film music and yiddish-klezmer music. The songs are written for Lucette and you can find many references to her preferences in music.
The songs were originally only available in a limited edition so Alan Bern and I thought it was a pity they were not available for everyone to listen to them.
That is why we are happy to share them digital for all channels like Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, Deezer, etc.
