HATS AND SCARVES PROJECT
The Crear y Compartir group is working hard to produce hats and scarves (gorras y bufandas). This is our second year as a loose part of Hats and Scarves Campo Kids (based in San Miguel Allende). This year we will be bringing them to a kindergarten and primary school in the pueblo of El Punto in the Municipality of Santa Catarina Ixtepeji, about an hour north of the city of Oaxaca. If you are coming to Oaxaca and want to donate to this effort, we need: knit/crochet hat and scarf sets (bright colors); yarn; financial donations to buy more yarn and pay for the trip to go to the village. And/or just join the group while you are here and work with us. SEE PHOTO.

A program of Oaxaca Regional Music in anticipation of the Day of the Dead celebrations. The organ was built around 1730 and restored in 1991. This concert will be presented by IOHIO organists Jesús González, Isaí Guzmán, and Cecilia Winter.

AMARANTH DAY FESTIVAL
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 10 AM - 5 PM — Plaza de la Danza
Within the spirit of World Food Day (Oct. 16), Puente a la Salud Comunitaria (Bridge to Community Health) A.C. will hold "Amaranth Day" on Saturday, November 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Plaza de la Danza, in the city center of Oaxaca. It will be an exciting celebration of both Amaranth and Oaxacan culture, and will include opportunities for tasting of amaranth products, activities for children, discussions on food sovereignty, a photo expo, concerts and a live cooking show including chefs from Oaxacan restaurants (Los Danzantes and Las Quince Letras) and traditional cooks from two Oaxacan regions, La Mixteca and Valles Centrales.
