Carolina Murugan Temple (CMT) conducted its first BOA meeting on Sep 22nd, 2019 and shared the overall progress from each committee. Our First Hundiyal (உண்டியல்) was handmade by Anbazhagan Sivalingam aka Anbu, donated by divinewoodncrafts.com

Here are the two key accomplishments. 

1. Perimeter Survey of the temple property is in progress. Marking the locations of sites – temple, library, museum is progressing very well. 

2. Initial review meeting with Architect Team has been completed.

The following are CMT's high-level plan for 2019-2021.  

After our first Strategic Leadership meeting, the BOT, BOA, and the various committees have started working towards our ultimate aim of building our Murugan Temple in the authentic style of Tamizh architecture per the Tamizh Agamam (தமிழ் ஆகமம்). 

During the ideation phase of the temple, Radha Ravi Varma, Bharathi Pandi, and Kaali Dass met Mr. Vijayakumar Murugesan, a dedicated devotee of Lord Muruga, and explained the overall goal and design of the temple and requested his support.  

He connected us with Staphatis and designers who specialize in temple construction, and came up with a temple design, which was used to get preliminary approval from Chatham county. 

As a second phase of the effort, he is visiting various temples and talking to experts in this area to get a better understanding of the  complexities involved in the temple construction process and to identify the right resources to help us with the actual construction.

Starting this process early, will help us understand the complexities involved in the temple construction. This effort will also help us to start the construction, once we are ready with the infrastructure, temple blueprint, and related approvals from local County authorities. 

The CMT board recognizes his efforts, and looks forward to more support for his efforts in India. 

Building Good Neighborly Vibes through outreach - Initiative by Radha Ravi Varma

We spent a day working alongside Mr. Manning our neighbor (right next to our temple property), in his farm and getting to know him. We got to pick many watermelons to support local farmer. 

Kanda Sashti, the sixth day in the bright half of the month of Aippasi, is one of the most celebrated festivals for Lord Murugan. Carolina Murugan Temple is conducting Kanda Sashti in Cary for RTP Murugan Devotees.
