NEW ESTIMATES ON STEAM IN SMALLER BUILDINGS

In our new Research Brief, Demystifying Steam: Smaller Buildings, Urban Green provides the first-ever granular estimates of the locations and prevalence of steam heat in NYC's 53,000 small and medium multifamily buildings.

With little information publicly available about these buildings (many of which will need to comply with NYC’s Local Law 97), this research takes an important first step in understanding steam in this sector.

Explore the results in the interactive map, and join us on November 7 to learn more about our findings and discuss how data science techniques can help drive smarter retrofits.

GREENING THE GRID

To reduce emissions and drive compliance with LL97, New York City will need to transition to a greener grid. And Canada's hydropower could play a critical role.

Join Urban Green and the Consulate General of Canada for a Global Exchanges event on October 23. Expert panelists from New York and Hydro-Quebec will discuss how the proposed new transmission project, the Champlain Hudson Power Express, could help the city meet its clean energy needs.

This event is sponsored by Carrier.
