We’ve taken a week to deck the halls of our brand-new gallery space down the road and eastward over the hill into Balgowlah and we here at Sydney Road Gallery are eager to welcome you all to join us in inaugurating this exciting new chapter of the SRG story! Friday 18 October, 5-7pm will not only christen Sydney Road Gallery’s new headquarters with a Grand Opening, but will mark the opening of Amanda Tye’s long-awaited and exceptional body of abstract landscape paintings as part of the artist's latest show: Beyond the Edge. In this breathtaking exhibition the Glover-nominated landscapist has achieved new heights of compositional complexity, depth, and balance. At the same time, evident in works like Stand Tall and True and Sculptured by the Sea, Amanda's work showcases great refinement in the expression of elemental themes – namely the timeless dialogue between unyielding rocky shores and the great open expanses of sea and sky. You can come by to 451 Sydney Road to explore this and other major artistic achievements by our masterful collective of artists from 10am Thursday 17 October.
Amanda Tye, Balmoral in Prussian Blue 130cm x 110cm - SOLD
Amanda Tye, Sculptured by the Sea 110cm x 140cm - $3,600
Amanda's solo show will be complemented by a number of exceptional works - this time as part of the inaugural group showcase in our new gallery. OUR NEW HOME - 451 SYDNEY ROAD
We have moved! We've bade farewell to our home of two-and-a-half years at 561-563 Sydney Rd. and settled in to our new space at 451 Sydney Rd. As an artist-run institution, Sydney Road Gallery exists only by virtue of the hard work and tenacious enthusiasm of the artists themselves. Without the willingness to sweat it out and the imagination to see the value of putting in the time, it would be unfeasible for a gallery like ours to exist at all - let alone to close down and reopen ln a new location less than two-weeks later! However, it is on account of the tremendous support that you - our patrons, friends and family - provide us, that makes our work worthwhile. Thank you for sharing our journey with us so far. The best, as they say, is yet to come.
