OUR FEATURED GUESTS
TANGERINE MOUNTAIN
IMPORTS & DESIGNS
Japan House is honored to welcome Tangerine Mountain Imports & Designs owners Cheri Santellano and Teri Noto as featured guest lecturers for the annual Fall Open House.

Sisters Cheri and Teri travel the United States and Japan with the mission to share traditional Japanese clothing to as many parts of the USA as possible. They have a 3,000 square foot warehouse and showroom in Schaumburg, IL, full of kimono, obi, Japanese street fashion, books (both antique and modern) about Japanese art and fashion, and an authentic Edo-period samurai armor set they have affectionately nicknamed “Fred.”

Together, they sell over 10,000 vintage kimono + obi sets throughout America each year, and have teamed up with ACDC Rag, a premier fashion brand out of Harajuku, to bring even more Japanese fashion to the States. As if they don’t already have enough to do as the largest importer of vintage kimono to the United States, they have also begun designing and producing their own line of kimono accessories and other items utilizing a combination of ukiyo-e prints and Cheri’s original designs.

These kimono sisters are thrilled and honored to be featured guest lecturers for Japan House's Open House 2019. As a previous student of Shozo Sato, Cheri is particularly thrilled to present their passions and love of Japan in the very place her sensei founded. They are excited to share about their journey and future goals of engaging America in meaningful and transformative cultural exchange with Japan through kimono.
