October 17 is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.

Today, thousands of people representing over 100 groups across Canada are marking the day by calling on the federal government to take immediate action on this ongoing violation of human rights

As part of our Dignity for All campaign, Chew On This! events are being held by 100 groups in 65 cities across the country – from St. John’s to Nanaimo and Iqaluit – including locally at Parliament Hill. Volunteers will be handing out 25,000 campaign lunch bags which will contain a snack, a magnet, and a postcard to send to the federal government demanding stronger national action on poverty, food insecurity, and homelessness.

Regardless of the result of next week's election, Chew on This! is asking that our federal government show their commitment to a poverty-free Canada in the first 90 days by choosing effective human rights and making poverty a budget priority.
Throughout the day, CPJ members will be sharing on social media why they believe we need to end poverty in Canada.

On the Dignity for All website, you'll find ready-made posts for Twitter as well as cards that you can use today to make your own posts. (See CPJ's own posts on Facebook and Instagram.)
