This interactive workshop provides a non-judgmental approach aimed at understanding what unconscious bias is (and is not), how it operates in the workplace, and how it can undermine organizational objectives. In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to increase self-awareness, get up to speed with the latest research on unconscious bias, and learn some simple strategies to notice and counter your biases.

*25% Discount for Non-profit organizations: Use code SAVE25 if you are a staff or board member of a non-profit organization.

Refugee Awareness: November 5, 2019 from 1-4:30 pm. The cost for this workshop is $25.

This workshop provides community members and service providers with accurate and comprehensive information about refugees and refugee resettlement by: supporting individuals and organizations in understanding the pre-migration experiences of refugees, offering practical tools for working with refugee families, and providing ideas for creating welcoming and inclusive environments that ensure sustainable and successful resettlement of refugees and other migrants in Alberta.

Spotlight Series!

The Family Centre (TFC) has been providing services to families since 1942. We provide mental health services in over 60 schools, free drop-in counselling at 9 locations across Edmonton, and subsidized goal-oriented counselling. Additionally, we provide translation and interpretation services, and a wide variety of psycho-educational workshops.

We also work in collaboration with Children Services to provide family support to over 500 families in East and North Central Edmonton. Being a trauma informed agency, we ensure that our practice, policies, and procedures reflect the values of safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment. The Family Centre has a strong reputation for providing quality services, basing our work on research and evidence-based practices.

Over the last few years, participating in ceremony, and focusing on enhancing our indigenous practice has been a priority for us. To date, 125 employees have participated in four days of ceremony through Omanitew. This cultural experience has helped us understand the history, the impact of intergenerational trauma, and the healing of ceremony. We have incorporated protocols such as smudging and sharing circles into our policy and practice. Learn more about the Family Centre here:
