Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd.
The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep”
(John 10:11).

Dear friends in Jesus, our Good Shepherd,

WELCOME HOME SUNDAY is this Sunday, October 20!
The goal of Welcome Home Sunday is for EVERYONE that is part of our Christian family to come together. After all, church is supposed to be a home, and believers are kin. Our focus of worship will be the blessing of Christian community. We want 100% of our members here. Please do everything possible to come!  And is there anyone you haven't seen in a while that you could invite to come with you?

Church Cleanup Day: THIS Saturday, 9 AM — preparing for Welcome Home Sunday
We would like to be ready for Sunday and accomplish a bit more of the detail work and deeper cleaning. Could you please share an hour or two this Saturday? Thank you!

See you this weekend!

New Sunday Bible Class Series--STARTS THIS SUNDAY
THIS Sunday, October 20, we are starting a new Sunday Bible Class series. Have you thought about starting to come to Bible Class, but you didn't know when it would be a good time to start? Come this Sunday! Our new series: "The Fruit of the Spirit." As a tree cannot help but bear fruit, so Christians, planted by God in Christ, will also bear fruit in all areas of their lives. As our worship series focuses on our Christian Home here at church, this Bible Class series focuses on how we live life together as Christians. Join us on a new adventure through God's Word. We would love to grow in the Word, together with you.  Sundays at 9:00 am.

Teen Bible Study and Gathering
Our high school teens have an opportunity to gather together with the teens from Abiding Word on Sunday, October 27, from 4:00-6:00 pm. We will have a few games, pizza, and begin a Bible Study on "The Seven Deadly Sins." Grades 8-12 are welcome. We plan to carpool from Good Shepherd. Please contact Pastor Jeremy if you are interested. Cell/text: 253-219-4361.

Conroe Mission Bible Study
Join us at 4:00 pm on October 27 at the home of Jan Paulson for Bible study and fellowship (515 Northwood Dr., Conroe, TX 77303). We will continue our series on "A Christian In All Seasons" based on Ecclesiastes 3. These bible studies are intended to help us understand the different seasons of life we go through as Christians. God's Word prepares us to reach out to others who are going through these seasons but don't have the Savior with them the way we do. See you at Jan's on October 27.

“Above and Beyond” for October: Christmas Outreach Expansion

We have been mailing 5,000 postcards to invite people to major events such as Christmas, Easter, and Welcome Home Sunday. We would like to continue these outreach efforts for this Christmas, and we would also like to expand our reach. Besides postcards, we also advertise these events through banners, social media, and mini-invitations. Our designated savings fund for outreach is almost depleted. Would you be interested in supporting these efforts “above and beyond” your typical and needed offerings?

Our current expenses for each event are: $1350 for 5,000 postcards, $400 for other methods. $1750 would cover a similar-sized effort this Christmas. Greater support could increase our mailing reach.

If you would like to support these outreach efforts, gifts may be given in worship or online (gslcthewoodlands.org/give).  Please designate the gift as “Above and Beyond” or “outreach.” Thank you!

WELS CHRISTIAN AID AND RELIEF UPDATE

Through a humanitarian aid grant, Christian Aid and Relief supports the efforts of medically trained volunteers who travel to Thailand to set up medical clinics in village churches. As these clinics draw people from both local and neighboring villages, a unique opportunity to share the gospel message occurs. These efforts include VBS and ELS classes as well as follow-up contacts after the classes conclude. Similar efforts in recent years have been blessed with baptisms, church membership, and the support of village leaders.
