It’s not every day that you are given the gift of talking with Oprah. And you know what, that’s because of all of you! So before I get to my announcement, can I first say a big THANK YOU?! It makes my heart sing to see our OMD community growing!

I’m blown away by how many of you are standing with us and the work you’re doing to bring about change for your bodies, each other and our big, beautiful planet. I hear stories within the OMD community about people embracing one plant-based meal a day (or more!) and the health empowerment that follows. I am wowed by the serious rockstars all over the country working, school by school, for healthier, climate-friendly food for kids. I am so grateful for all of you who wake up each day to care for our planet, our oceans, rivers, forests, animals, insects...You are powerful and valued!

So, first, Oprah invited me to be on her amazing SuperSoul Sunday to talk about OMD!! WOW! Can you believe it? It was such a bright spot in my life to share time with Oprah, and I’m over the moon to share with you that it aired last Sunday, October 13th (and the podcast drops today!). Also, after our chat, Oprah kicked off a 30-day challenge and is sharing her journey as she explores eating one plant-based meal a day. Isn't that wild?!
I was humbled and honored to be welcomed by Oprah and her team at her beautiful Maui home. It still feels so surreal! A true “pinch me” kind of moment!

Okay, so that was the first thing. Ready for the second? 

I’m excited to present to you… (drumroll please)...The OMD Plan, the paperback release of last year’s OMD book! Coming on the heels of The Game Changers film, the Climate Strike and the global conversation on food, we know people are passionately searching for solutions, and we can bring our hopeful, doable mission to an even wider audience.

 
As I traveled this past month to Europe to promote The OMD Plan, I saw our message take root. When I was in Spain, The Intercontinental in Madrid had a whole plant-based room service menu! And in Portugal, The University of Coimbra in Lisbon banned beef two days before I arrived to promote OMD in Portuguese! I also went to a great plant-based restaurant in Paris called Le Potager du Charlotte! YUM! 
 
It is happening all around the world!

I couldn’t be more motivated. OMD is my life purpose (and obsession!?) so that we can leave behind a livable future for all our children. Nearly one year later, I think we all have a lot to be proud of. Consider this:
  • It feels like almost every week we’re hearing about plant-based menu options sprouting up at chains like Carl’s Jr., Burger King, White Castle and others 
  • More and more schools are serving climate-friendly plant-based foods to kids
  • Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat have received wall-to-wall coverage in financial news outlets
  • The Game Changers, a documentary Jim and I co-executive produced about plant-based athletes and peak performance, shot to #1 on the iTunes movie download chart hours after it came out for pre-order
I love knowing how many OMD global champions are out there making not only the change for themselves but spreading the word and inspiring others. 

Many committed organizations and people like you are making a difference for our wild living planet and the future of all of our children, one meal at a time.
