THE WODEN ARTS FAIR
 

Woden Arts is excited to announce it will be holding a community Arts Fair in the Woden Town Square on Saturday December 7th, from 11am – 2pm.
 
It will be a great opportunity to enjoy performances by local musicians and to meet some of the wonderful organisations and artists that provide creative opportunities in Woden. 

The Arts Fair is a family-friendly event, and there will be lots of fun activities for kids, including free circus, theater and drawing workshops! 

Below we have included some information about a selection of the stalls and drop-in workshops you will find at the fair, but we will be sending out more information over the coming weeks.

WORKSHOPS
 
WAREHOUSE CIRCUS (FREE)
All-ages drop-in workshop, exploring circus activities
12 - 2 pm

Run away with the circus and immerse yourself in colourful activities like juggling, hula hoops, spinning plates and more! Warehouse Circus will be hosting an open workshop for people of all ages and abilities, so make sure to check it out and learn some cool tricks!
 


 
LEFT LANE OUTREACH THEATRE (FREE)
Drop-in theatre workshop for kids aged 3 - 8

Our Village is Left Lane Outreach Theatre's original story-telling experience where you get to make your own costume and become a character in our black and white newspaper village! Come along on an adventure to bring back the colour to our village as we discover the beauty of difference.

PCL is a podcast and online publication dedicated to the celebration and amplification of contemporary printmaking and its culture, operating right here in our nations capital! Releasing every two weeks with artist profiles, exhibition reviews, and studio insights as well as a robust social media presence PCL aims to create a shared experience and narrative for the passionate and yet often geographically divided community of printmaking enthusiasts.

ARTSOUND FM
An independent, locally focused community arts and music station

ArtSound covers the full spectrum of the Canberra region’s performing and visual arts, including literature, theatre, film, exhibitions, and concerts. They also broadcast a great mix of jazz (and blues), folk, world, and classical music.

They have a broadcast presentation studio, a small-talks/music-group studio, two professional-standard production studios, a live-recording studio, an archiving studio, and a Senior Memories streaming service designed especially for aged-care facilities.

ArtSound are on the air 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, thanks to the time, energy, and passion of our volunteers, supported by a small part-time staff and the generous support of the ACT Government, Community Broadcasting Foundation, sponsors, donors, and community partners.

With a great mix of music, much of it recorded locally, ArtSound FM has something for any discerning music lover.

ARTISTS SOCIETY OF CANBERRA
A supportive creative community for visual arts and artists

The Artists Society of Canberra is a community of approximately 300 members who have been meeting to share their ideas, enthusiasm and inspiration since 1927 – that is an awful lot of knowledge and experience to share.

Key events in the ASOC calendar are the Annual Spring Exhibition showcasing members’ works and a Summer Art Experience every January (a week of art under expert tuition). Members meet on a monthly basis, workgroups operate 6 days a week, and workshops run throughout the year - open to members and non-members.

ASOC is a friendly society, always ready to welcome new members.

DIVERSITY ACT

Diversity ACT is a community based, registered charity, run by volunteers that provides a service hub, social worker, support networks, groups and community resources to assist the LGBTIQ+ community of South Canberra.  Queer Youth Together (or QyouT pronounced “cute”) is a program for LGBTIQ+ young people aged 12-25.  QyouT provides a safe place, activities, networking, resources, and just good fun.

 


THE ZINE EMPORIUM
it's cut. it's paste. it's a scribble. and it ain't no waste!

The CanberraZine Emporium - announced itself to the masses on March 23rd 2013, as part of the YOU ARE HERE festival. It's a collective run by folks who live, write, breath ZINES. Drop by their stall for all things zines... they'll even show you how to make one!

PERFORMERS

RECORDER RONDO

Recorder Rondo is a group of recorder players who meet weekly under the banner of the U3A. 

Members range up to the age of 90 and the aim of the group is to enjoy the pleasure of playing music.  
 



ANU CHINESE CLASSICAL MUSIC ENSEMBLE

The ensemble originated in 2006 with a small group led by Nicholas Ng (Huang Jian Wen).

Since it's inception the ensemble has been invited to play at a large number of events, and since 2010 has held an annual fundraising performance, with funds going to organisations such as the ANU School of Music (World Music Instrument Collection) and Project Hope.

The ensemble welcomes members from the broader ACT community.
