Welcome to the Vegan Organic Network (VON) Newsletter!

‘Veganic’ is a combination of two words ‘vegan’ and ‘organic’. It’s a guarantee that food is grown in an organic way with only plant based fertilisers, encouraging functional biodiversity so pesticides are not necessary. No chemicals, no GMO and no animal by-products in any part of the chain.

Veganic food is resilient to the largest problems facing humanity i.e. environmental destruction, pollution of the sea and air and soil erosion.

Veganic otherwise we are dependent on animal agriculture, chemicals, pesticides and herbicides.

In essence, veganic is a logical step beyond organic for those who seek safe food grown in a sustainable manner.

Biocyclic Humus Soil

What is “BIOCYCLIC HUMUS SOIL?”

In biocyclic vegan agriculture, a particular degree of soil fertility is achieved by the use of purely plant-based biocyclic humus soil. Biocyclic humus soil is one of the most promising innovations in modern organic agriculture. Cultivating without fertilisers from animals is possible!

Production benefits

What this means for the planet is that hemp offers the most far ranging uses for our sustainability. For instance, hemp requires half the amount of water that cotton needs to produce a 250 percent higher yield than cotton because when processing is figured into the water usage equation, “cotton uses more than four times as much water as hemp”.

The world needs topsoil to grow 95% of its food – but it’s rapidly disappearing

The world grows 95% of its food in the uppermost layer of soil, making topsoil one of the most important components of our food system. But thanks to conventional farming practices, nearly half of the most productive soil has disappeared in the world in the last 150 years, threatening crop yields and contributing to nutrient pollution, dead zones and erosion. In the US alone, soil on cropland is eroding 10 times faster than it can be replenished.

Researchers find multiple effects on soil from manure from cows administered antibiotics

For the study, researchers analysed ecosystems exposed to manure from cattle given no antibiotics and manure from cattle given a common antibiotic, as well as a control sample not exposed to manure. All of the manure samples were collected from standard dairy operations maintained by researchers from the Virginia Tech Department of Dairy Science.

 Extinction/Animal Rebellion Protests London

To governments of the world, we declared a Climate and Ecological Emergency. You did not do enough.
60 cities worldwide joined the rebellion!
Thanks to everyone who supported VON's participation in the London Rebellion protests.
Police made it very difficult for the rebels to set up camps, by seizing kitchen equipment, gazebos and transport, sadly, our van, cargo trike and kitchen equipment were also impounded by the police.
Nevertheless the rebellion was very successful with two weeks of creative actions including occupying Smithfield Meat Market and turning it into a vegetable market for the day and blockading Billingsgate Fish Market to highlight the destruction of the oceans. Both actions attracted a lot of media attention.
Over 1700 people have been arrested since the protest started twelve days ago including George Monbiot, Sister Katrina Alton, Rabbi Jeffrey Newman and Green Party co-leader Jonathan Bartley. It was inspiring to see so many courageous people turn out to show solidarity for System Change Not Climate Change.
We look forward to supporting future actions and spreading the veganic message!
