The wind is my enemy when painting outdoors. This 24x30 was a huge sail to the elements. I weighted my French box easel with heavy stones, (ballast). The view was too wonderful not to try!
There I was battling the fierce winds all alone and as I placed the last brushstroke on a brightly painted "Scooby-Doo Van" pulled up the deserted road and 3 young kids popped out and wanted to see what was going on!
They were from Lithuania on holiday. I welcomed them to Colorado! I told them my teacher was from Kiev, Ukraine - one said that is not far, just 900 kilometers from us. Wow-what a small wild windy wonderful world we live in!
Aspen Gathering 24x20 plein air Don Sahli
The wind subsided, Autumn was stunning and the weather magnificent!
My complete painting trip is captured in a Google slideshow
