Children at Hereward Primary School in Loughton were visited by actor Anthony Glenn who performed 'Oliver Twist' to the school as part of its 'Charles Dickens Week'.

Using willing and enthusiastic children from the audience to help him to perform the story, Mr Glenn was able to both inform and entertain the pupils with his own retelling of the wonderful tale - all in 60 minutes!

The children in Years 3 and 4 then participated in drama workshops throughout the rest of the day.

Headteacher Matt Woolard said: "What a wonderful day it was. Anthony Glenn showed how such classic literature can be made accessible to children of all ages.

"They absolutely loved his rendition of Oliver Twist and have been further inspired to learn more about the story."
