Butte County Fire 1 Year Anniversary
Brought to you by: Jim Peck
November 8, 2019 is the first anniversary of the Camp Fire in Butte County. One of the most destructive fires in modern California history, it burned 253 square miles and destroyed 15,000 homes. 85 people died in the Camp Fire. The Camp Fire was named the worst natural disaster in the world in 2018 as measured by value loss, over $16 billion. Please consider commemorating the fire in one or both of these ways. On Friday, November 8, beginning at 11:08 AM, pause for 85 seconds of silence, one second for each person who died. On Sunday, November 10, consider including 85 seconds of silence in your worship services, honoring those who died. Include in your prayers all those communities throughout the world that are recovering from disasters, most recently Japan and the Bahamas. And give thanks that our United Church of Christ has a vibrant and effective disaster response ministry.

Blessing Service for Community UCC in Guerneville
Brought to you by: Pamela Tinnin
On October 13th the Community UCC in Guerneville celebrated and blessed their new worship space. They celebrated with neighbors, friends, family and a long term sister church in Guerneville, the Metropolitan Community Church of the Redwood Empire. There was wonderful music, by Zan Spencer, Debbie San Angelo and Martin Maratz. Pamela Tinnin mentions, "Sharing our gifts - this church reminds me of a poster I saw and hope I can find a copy sometime: "If you find yourself tiptoeing around others, you're not walking with your tribe." I love not having to tiptoe."

UCC Webinar: "Worker Justice is Climate Justice"
Brought to you by: Interfaith Power and Light
As the climate movement pushes our society toward becoming fossil free, how can we ensure that the transition happens in a way that is just and fair for workers? This question will be at the heart of the UCC's next Creation Justice Webinar. The featured guests will be Michael Leon Guerrero from the Labor Network for Sustainability and Michael Williams from the BlueGreen Alliance. In a world that often falsely pits the wellbeing of workers against protection of the environment, they will help us see how matters of justice are interconnected rather than oppositional. The webinar will be on November 14th, but register even if you cant make it! Sign up HERE.
