Luncheon Address:
The Case Against Socialism

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) joins us as our luncheon speaker to discuss his new book, The Case Against Socialism. Senator Paul is one of the foremost defenders of liberty on Capitol Hill, leading the charge against out-of-control spending, unauthorized wars, unconstitutional mass surveillance, and big government run amok. His timely new book speaks to the recent resurgence of socialist ideology on the left, and in it he draws from numerous Cato scholars and their work in defense of free markets. A book signing with Senator Paul will follow the luncheon.

Keynote Address:
Clowns to the Left of Me, Jokers to the Right

Michael Smerconish, newspaper columnist, best-selling author, and host of Sirius XM’s daily The Michael Smerconish Program and CNN’s weekly Smerconish. As the title of his latest book—Clowns to the Left of Me, Jokers to the Right—indicates, Michael is worried these days about polarization, tribalism, and both major parties moving to the extremes, a problem that is also an important concern for us here at Cato. Michael is a principled commentator who insists that Congress and Washington are more polarized than Americans as a whole, and he points to the growing number of independents who are disillusioned with both parties.

An Originalist Antidote to Overcriminalization and Mass Incarceration: Founding-Era Informed Juries

Clark Neily, Vice President for Criminal Justice, Cato Institute. Clark will discuss his crucial work to revive the constitutional role of juries and how Founding-era principles and an originalist approach to criminal justice can serve as an antidote to overcriminalization and mass incarceration.
Individual attendees: $75.00 Per Person
Table of eight attendees: $525.00 Per Table
