Coaches Comments

"The best time of the year is finally here - the start of the cricket season!
Our Premier wider squad of 24 odd players has been steadily building over the last eight weeks and we are well and truly eager to get going.
This season marks a really interesting time in the club's history and this isn't lost on me. We have returned to the top flight after being away for eight seasons and we are also the only club in Auckland with two Premier Reserve sides due to our third grade team winning their competition last season.
Throw on top of that a young crop of players that is perhaps the envy of all the other clubs and what we have is a pretty interesting proposition for me as head coach.
Having said all that, our squad is still undergoing a substantial change in approach and this doesn't just happen overnight. We laid strong blocks last season and I'm truly excited about where the group is heading and what I'm seeing but I'd encourage our supporters to understand we are about to jumps levels massively as we compete in the Headley Howarth and success is not often a lineal thing but rather a bumpy road filled with potholes.
We'll navigate them don't you worry, but there might be the odd puncture from time to time if you get my drift.
You can expect to see a great deal of competition amongst our squad for Premier spots.
We have already had two young players in Will Clarke and Mitchell Bremner force their way into the Premier side for game one as a result of their performances and behaviors over the preseason campaign.
I anticipate a very strong season from our Premier Reserve Major side which has been bolstered by three overseas players from the UK who have joined us for the summer. We are looking to create uniformity in the way our top two sides approach all forms of the game with both sides working off the same KPI's and with players being given clear roles and pathways into the premier side.
Bring on game one! "

TGS Tour Australia

The two teams assembled at Auckland International Airport prior to their decent on Brisbane.

The Takapuna Grammar 1st XI Girls and Boys cricket team recently went on a 10-day tour of Queensland.
We were able to experience some extremely high-quality sporting facilities staying at the BLK Performance Center and the Sunshine Coast Sports HUB.
It was extremely successful both on and off the field, together the teams managed to win 7 of their 10 games. With the most outstanding individual performances being centuries from Jack Clough and Samatha Petherick.
Both the Girls and Boys will be hoping that this tour has put them in good stead for their upcoming seasons.

Term 4 will be an exciting time for cricket at TGS as the boys 1st XI have reimagined their spot in the Premier Competition as well as seeing the girls compete against the best in Auckland. If you are in the area on either a Wednesday evening for the girls or Saturday for the boys pop in and support your local school.

Food's Up!.

The club kitchen will once again be selling food on Saturday evenings.
On weeks when the Premier team are away, like this weekend, hot chips only will be available to enjoy while you have a cool beverage.
When the Premier team is at home there will be a full di
offerings over the bar this summer, come on in to check them out.

Spring Camp
The Annual Spring Camp was another North Shore success story.
Over 35 children attended in three different age groups and thoroughly enjoyed themselves for four days.
More importantly, they all  learnt new skills and how to play the game.

Busy Sunday

Sunday saw the Domain come alive as families came to get a bargain at our annual second hand gear sale, kids moving to hardball learnt the ropes and younger children gave cricket a go for the first time.
It was also great to see many of our season coaches involved.
