In Revelation 1, God gave the Apostle John a message. “Write was you have seen, what is, and what will take place after this.” (Revelation 1:19). It was a moment that was significant—a specific place and as specific time. But God’s interaction with people didn’t end after that. He continues to share and reveal Himself with us on a daily basis.

Unlike John, we don’t need to be marooned to an island or have a significant moment to receive from the Lord. The fact is, in our ordinary, everyday lives, God has a message He wants to share with us.

And so, like John, we can listen and participate in what God has to say to us—right here, right now. But what does that look like and how do we engage in those moments? Listen to our study from this past Sunday as Guest Speaker Jeremy Snoberger shared about our response to the times we find our lives interrupted by God.

Be Encouraged

For us, time is linear. Events are sequential. We experience time as it unfolds before us. But God isn’t limited by linear time. And sometimes—more often than we think—He breaks into our timeline. He provides us with opportunities to see things more from His perspective.

Now we can choose to run from these moments or be so busy we completely miss them. Or we can expect them, recognize them, and enter into them, knowing that God has placed them in our timeline for a reason.

These moments can be positive or negative. They might be big or small. But they are never neutral. God is always calling us to the next step. If we don’t join Him, our life will go backwards. But if we enter in and go through these moments, we’ll emerge as a changed person—as a new creation.

To learn from these moments, we have a question ask and a question to answer. We need to stop and ask God what He is saying to us. Then, in light of what He’s communicating, we need to decided what we’re going to do about it.

Just like the apostle John on the island of Patmos, you can also have moments where God intervenes and speaks. There are things that God wants to say to you. Are you listening?
