Opportunities for the Month...

The men’s group, Society of the Sons of God (SoSoGo), will have their next breakfast meeting this Saturday,  October 19th, at 8:30am in Fellowship Hall.  This month we will be working on moving around all of the items in our various storage spots, moving our blessings box to the driveway, and ridding the church of some junk that's been laying around.  Anyone is welcome to come down and lend a hand!
Our Survey of the Bible Class meets will be taking the month of August off since so many participants are on vacation, so the next class will be on on Sunday, October 20th, from 11:30am until 1:00pm, in the nursery area.  Becca will be discussing the book of Genesis.  Notes from the last class (9-15-19) are available here.
www.earthpaint.org is an organization that collects old paint (for a small fee), and combines all that used paint into a small number of consistent colors that it then resells to pay its employees.  Earthpaint employs folks from Chicago's Little City, an organization for disabled children and adults.  Donating paint to Earthpaint and buying the paint they produce, are good ways to kill two birds with one stone - getting rid of old paint in an environmentally friendly way, and helping provide jobs for differently-abled adults.  If you have paints you would like to get rid of, you can bring them down to church, along with your donation fee of $5 a gallon ($2.50 for quarts and $10 for five gallon buckets), and the Deacon's Board will make sure it gets to an Earthpaint donation drop location.
We are starting to fill our blessings box with a variety of blessings for the community.  We are collecting canned foods and personal hygiene products.  If you could add a couple non-perishable food items (or shelf stable perishable items, like crackers,  healthy snacks, granola bars, boxed meal kits, etc), or things like toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, feminine hygiene products, deodorants, etc to your weekly shopping list we could really do some good in the community.  When the weather gets colder we will add hats, mittens and scarves to the box, and maybe a coat or two if we have room, in case you want to plan ahead.  WE hope to keep the Blessings Box continuously filled, so keep a few items coming each week!
The Stewardship Drive began on Sunday, October 13th with a Stewardship sponsored Pot Luck Lunch after church.  The drive will continue through Sunday, November 3rd, at which time the Stewardship Board will host a 'Thank You' Luncheon, (you don't need to bring a thing).  The 'Thank You' lunch will be held in Fellowship Hall immediately after services, and THANK YOU in advance for participating in our drive.  It takes all of us to keep our ship afloat.
