This Week In Doodle Art:
Artist Les Modes
and his project
The Secret History of American River People
In 2014, Les Modes began working on his archival art project. He has explored the Hudson, the Mississippi, the Tennessee, the Sacremento, and is currently on the Ohio River. He is collecting the stories and documenting the people who live on Rivers in the US while floating down them in a hand-made raft, named Dotty. He is hoping to finish his book and documentary about the project by next year.
What discussed the allure of building a raft and floating down a river.
We looked at images of both simple and elaborate rafts.
The Project:
Using pool noodles, plastic lids, zip ties, velcro, popsicle sticks, glue, and sticky back felt, we built "sea" or at least "sink" worthy rafts!
