2019 FISHBASE AND SEALIFEBASE SYMPOSIUM AND CONSORTIUM MEETING HOSTED BY UWA
September 9-13, 2019 was an eventful week for the FishBase and SeaLifeBase officers, founders, board members, consortium members and selected collaborators at the University of Western Australia (UWA). NOVEL FISH STOCK ASSESSMENT METHODS GOES TO WEST AFRICA
Through collaborations led by Dr. Daniel Pauly (Sea Around Us Principal Investigator and FishBase Cofounder) and Dr. Deng Palomares (Sea Around Us Project Manager and Q-quatics Science Director), the first workshop on new stock assessment techniques for data-poor fisheries developed by Dr. Rainer Froese (Senior Scientist at GEOMAR and Cofounder of FishBase) was delivered in West Africa late September this year. "Statistics in R Programming" was held earlier this year at the Qq office in Los Baños, Laguna, Philippines and provided the Qq staff/participants with basic knowledge in statistics and programming skills in R, especially in the areas of data manipulation and function construction. [More]
