Join ERIGrid Webinar “Holistic Test Description for Validating Cyber-Physical Energy Systems”
The ERIGrid project invites you to the webinar "Holistic Test Description (HTD) for Validating Cyber-Physical Energy Systems" on 21 October at 2:00 PM CEST.

The webinar will introduce you to the HTD method, which facilitates the conception, deconstruction and reproduction of complex experimental designs in the domains of cyber-physical energy systems. It is designed for the scoping and design of experiments where both testbed and solution are complex and require advanced expertise. The approach applies to all scales of experiments, combinations of physical and simulated testbeds, and many engineering disciplines.

The presenters will offer a detailed example of HTD application in a multi-domain test case realised in a multi-laboratory testbed within the ERIGrid project.

All Templates and Guidelines relating to the ERIGrid HTD method are available in ERIGrid GitHub repository  on an open access basis.
The new empirical work “ERIGrid Holistic Test Description for Validating Cyber-Physical Energy Systems” in the Energies journal describes the new (HTD) method, with which research laboratories can combine their unique qualities to devise meaningful system tests. This work first revisited present test description approaches, developed a new description method for cyber-physical energy systems testing, and matured it by means of user involvement. The publication also elaborates on the background and motivation, offers a guideline and examples to the proposed approach, and summarises experience from three years of its application in ERIGrid.
Together with the Centre for Intelligent Electricity Distribution (CINELDI) and SINTEF, ERIGrid will hold the workshop “Smart Grid Laboratory Developments” on 28-29 October in Trondheim (NO). The workshop aims to share knowledge and experience on smart grid laboratory activities with a special focus on co-simulation and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation and disseminate results from ERIGrid Joint Research Activities.

DAMS4IRMA is yet another outstanding example of a user project that was realised through the ERIGrid Transnational Access programme. The DAMS4IRMA user group applied for the ERIGrid Transnational Access in order to test, validate and analyse the impacts of different control-oriented models of the air-to-water heat pump on the COP (coefficient of performance) prediction, especially for the formulation of optimal control problem in presence of variable electricity prices, variable outdoor conditions and variable loads. The tests were carried out at the SYSLAB facility of the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).

on 26 November 2019 at 14:00 – 15:00 CET
In order to exploit the potential of each research infrastructure in the smart grid domain, ERIGrid has developed advanced system validation methods and tools, together with common models, harmonised validation and deployment procedures. This new vision of multi research infrastructure tests ensure smooth transfer and deployment of validated solutions in the real world. The webinar will present the results of the experiments performed in the integrated research infrastructure, which allowed to demonstrate and validate the developed architectures, models, interfaces and experimental facilities.

ERIGrid at European Researchers’ Night
On 27 September 2019, ERIGrid participated in the European Researchers’ Night in Vienna (AT). The event takes place every year simultaneously in many cities across Europe and aims to give every citizen the opportunity to actively participate in science and to increase general public awareness of the diversity of scientific research. At its own stand this year, ERIGrid disseminated information about the latest developments in smart grid research and motivated young visitors to take up careers in electrical engineering.
