MESSAGE from Simon Bareham
Cresta has had a very busy year with both domestic and commercial pools. It has been a privilege to build some truly prestigious pools close to home, while Haven Seashore Holiday Park (Great Yarmouth), Freshwater Beach Holiday Park (Bridport), Talbot Heath School and others have kept us busy in 2019.  David Lloyd Clubs continue to use our expertise and we are currently working at our 9th site with them providing indoor and outdoor pools and spas.
Staff News
Billie has been working at Cresta for over 20 years (I know!) and has taken the well earned decision to reduce her hours and spend more time with family and friends. She is now working two days per week on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Róisín has been working with us for one year now and is loving her role and thriving in her job. She has gone through a steep learning curve with Billie and now has the unenviable task of scheduling and running the Service Department. As Service/Sales Manager, she is able to deal with any servicing and maintenance questions you may have.
With the winter fast approaching, we are already planning ahead for 2020. In the meantime, here are some tips on how to ensure your pool is in the best shape come the spring.

SAND FILTER CHANGE
The filter is the dirtiest element of anyone’s pool, but often the most neglected! Most pool companies will label the filter when the sand was last changed, so it is usually easy to check to see the date that the previous change occurred. If it is any longer than 7 years, it will certainly need changing, and if there is no sticker you should also think about changing the sand, especially if you cannot remember when it last occurred. It is a great excuse to keep Andy busy this winter!

WINTER POOL MAINTENANCE - IMPORTANT INFORMATION
As part of the winter closing procedure, the pool water depth is reduced. This prevents overfilling of the pool with rainwater, but more importantly concentrates the winterising chemicals, making them more effective and last longer.
However, over the recent mild, wet winters we have found that the pools have filled more quickly than usual and the chemical concentrate has been diluted. The pool is then at a higher risk of algae growth in the spring, especially if the client opens the pool in May or beyond when the weather has improved creating conditions for algae to quickly bloom and concentrate within the pool.
We are therefore recommending that the water levels are checked regularly and additional chemicals applied in the early new year. If necessary, the pool water levels can then be reduced further and the chemicals can be replenished as required. This can be a task carried out by the customer or Cresta can complete a winter visit.
By checking and applying chemicals, you can be more assured of having a clear pool rather than a green swamp come the spring, making the pool opening less arduous and time consuming.
