Free Butternut Squash:
We are happy to announce that, as a Thank You to the Farmscape Ecology Program's friends, volunteers, and supporters, we can give away a ton (literally) of wonderful organically-grown, well-cured butternut squash. The squash was grown as part of an agro-ecology experiment at the Hudson Valley Farm Hub, and what we don't give away to you all, will be donated in the Kingston area. The squash average around 4.5 lbs each and there are 700(!) of them.
We plan to have squash available for pickup at the Creekhouse (1075 Harlemville Road, Ghent) between Thursday, Oct. 17 and Wednesday, Oct. 30 (and potentially again after Nov. 6).
Please let me know if you would be interested in some butternut squash for winter storage (it stores for 3-4 month in a cool, dry, dark place), how many you would like to have, and if you could pick it up before Oct. 30.

Hawthorne Valley Farm Fall Festival:
Please join us this Sunday, Oct. 13, 10am-4pm for the Annual Fall Festival here at Hawthorne Valley Farm. Make sure to visit the Farmscape Ecology Program display south-west of the Farm Store (behind the smithy, under the Elm tree). We are preparing fun displays on skulls, native bees, sound maps, phenology, and beneficial habitats & native flowers for you to enjoy!

We are looking forward to seeing you and to sharing the bounty of our agro-ecology experiment.

With warm regards,

Claudia, Conrad, Anna, Dylan, Kenny, and Molly
