Homecoming 2019

Maryville College is gearing up for Homecoming 2019, Oct. 18-20 – and our big bicentennial celebration! Have you made plans to attend next weekend? Check out the weekend’s schedule and plans for reunion classes. Tickets are still available for the Bicentennial Celebration Gala, which will be held on Sat., Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Clayton Center for the Arts. We hope to see you there!

Exercise is Medicine®

October is Exercise is Medicine® on Campus Awareness Month, and the MC community is participating in several activities throughout the month to promote the benefits of physical activity.

Presidential Search

The search for Maryville College’s 12th president is underway. Dr. Katherine Haley of Haley Associates LLC is the executive search consultant assisting with the search. For details and to nominate a candidate, visit the College’s website.

Wildlife Calendar

Looking for a great holiday gift? MC’s 2019-20 Wildlife Photography Calendar is a 17-month calendar (August 2019 through December 2020) that features beautiful photos taken by students in Dr. Drew Crain’s “Wildlife Photography” course. Writers Hall of Fame

Congratulations to Kim Trevathan, associate professor of writing communication at Maryville College, who was inducted into the East Tennessee Writers Hall of Fame on Sept. 20. Read the press release!

Know a high school student who should consider Maryville College? Invite him or her to the next “Meet Maryville” event, scheduled for Nov. 9, or share information about how to visit the campus on other days this fall!

DOJ Grant

Maryville College has received a $300,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women to create the Preventing Assault and Violence through Education (PAVE) program, which will provide additional sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking (SADVDVS) prevention-education programs on the MC campus and comprehensive victim services in collaboration with the broader community.

Upcoming Bicentennial Events

Nov. 1-2: "To Know You" Play
Who was Susan Wiley Walker? That’s what Nashville playwright Mary Donnet Johnson aimed to find out when she embarked on a journey of discovery that culminated in her play, “To Know You,” which will be performed Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 2 at 3 p.m. at the Clayton Center for the Arts. The play about Walker (MC benefactor and architect/first resident of the home now known as RT Lodge) is one of MC’s bicentennial events. The performances are free and open to the public, but a printed ticket is required for admission. For tickets, call the Clayton Center Box Office at 865.981.8590. Dec. 6: "Messiah" Performance
Join us for a special bicentennial performance of Handel’s “Messiah” at 8 p.m. in the Clayton Center for the Arts' Ronald and Lynda Nutt Theatre. Tickets, which are $25 for adults and $20 for seniors (60 and older) and students, are available at claytonartscenter.com or by calling the Clayton Center Box Office at 865.981.8590.
