Greetings from Vienna! I made it safe and sound after my 10 hour train ride, albeit it with a bit of a head cold in tow. First off, thank you to everyone who sent over recommendations and inspiration for their own pilgrimages. I was so inspired. I know this is not the last time I will visit this city. The good thing about feeling a bit under the weather is that it helps me slow down and soak in the cafés.

Earlier this week I gave a talk at Product Crunch called 'Design Principles for Your Professional Trajectory.' I had SO MUCH FUN giving this talk that used design principles that guide decisions in product design, and applied them to create your own guiding principles for life. One of the surprise outcomes was it inspired me to come up with my own "Rules of a Pilgrimage" guidelines to inform my trip my first night in a café. I'm not allowed to use my phone at meals this trip, so I felt quite productive.

Here's some more inspiration for the week:

Read.

Yesterday while I was sitting at a café in Vienna, unbknownst to me, history was being made nearby. Kenyan runner Eliud Kipchoge made history breaking the 2 hour marathon time during the Vienna marathon. WOW! That's insane. He had Olympic caliber pacers guiding his every step and protecting him from the headwind. I love when sports get covered in the New Yorker, it truly captures the feat.

Watch.

I increasingly find myself fascinated by the different ways creativity exhibits itself. As someone who can be dubbed a "creative" I'm starting to realize just how limited my view of creativity is. Even from my grandfather, I'm seeing how much creativity goes into science and engineering. On a recent train ride I learned about Dance Your PhD from my seat mate, a scientist. It's an interesting idea to translate complicated ideas into dance that's further explored in John Bohannon's TED talk Dance vs. powerpoint, a modest proposal.

Listen.

This week my episode went live with burnout coach Cait Donovan. Her podcast, Fried: the burnout podcast, explores the ever growing world of burnout from different angles. I was thrilled to chat with her and share my own experiences with burnout, particularly through the lens of an American living abroad in France. Look for episode #15 wherever you listen to podcasts.
Back to exploring!

I hope you have a wonderful day—and week—exploring, even if it's close to home, or a stroll around the block!
