The Dancer Anita (1911)

by Kees van Dongen - at The National Gallery of Denmark, Copenhagen

Anita Berber was a famous dancer in Berlin during the "Roaring Twenties".  She lived a fast life, and died young, at 29, of tuberculosis. Perhaps a better known example of Anita Berber is by Otto Dix, a German painter and printmaker, noted for his ruthless and harshly realistic depictions of German society during the Weimar Republic.

Brooks Brown is our new Membership Director. A long time resident of the US Virgin Islands and now a recent homeowner in Aiken, SC Brooks focuses all of her time on taking everyday photographs of Aiken, horses, landscapes, local flowers, and historic sites in and around South Carolina to full fill her lifetime dream of creating and selling her Artographs.

Brooks combines her talents as both an artist and digital photographer into works of art by rendering everyday photographs with her one of a kind Artograph style. One can easily see her strong interest in abstract expressionism and use of vibrant colors as the consistent thread throughout her art work.  Click below to see her interesting work.
