A whole "new" Atmosphere Resorts & Spa
Are you looking for something to top your last Atmosphere experience? We are happy to oblige… In December, we will unveil our new luxurious Premium Pool Suites, each with their own private 20 sqm pool.
Our talented F&B team are taking your dining to the next level with a new second modern beachside restaurant and bar, showcasing the best of Atmosphere wining and dining. With an open show kitchen, guests will interact with the chefs, picking out the ingredients for their Asian Wok or selecting their local snapper for the grill. The purpose-built brick oven will be delivering the best pizzas on the coast and the selection of Asian and Western dishes that guests have come to love, has grown to include even more flavours of India, Thailand and of course The Philippines.
As a first on Negros Oriental, we will feature Filipino fine dining with a twist in our Fine Dining restaurant. Guests will find traditional dishes from different regions, showcasing local ingredients and flavours in a beautiful yet recognizable way. Our popular International fine dining cuisine will still be available.
And of course, two bars is better than one so to top it off, a second beach bar and a large, adult-only lap infinity pool is the icing on the cake.
We cannot wait to literally remove the fence in a month’s time.

Introducing the new Atmosphere PADI Critters Specialty!
The incredible diversity of critters found along Dauin’s coast has long been a well-kept secret. As the cat slowly gets teased out of the bag, the PADI Critters specialty is launched, unique to Atmosphere!
If you’re a diver who loves cryptic and colourful critters and would like to know more about what makes them tick, if you think “how on earth did they find that” when your dive guide points out a tiny hairy shrimp, then this specialty is for you. Created and run by Atmosphere’s in-house marine biologist, Kirsty, who has over 12 years’ experience working with marine creatures great and small, the critter-hunt is on!

Project Aware Week
Taking environmental clean-ups to a new level
At Atmosphere we regularly conduct underwater and beach clean-ups as a part of our environmental commitment. With September 16th - 23rd being Project AWARE week we went one step further and conducted a clean-up where it was needed the most! The prime location we chose was a dried up riverbed a couple of kilometers from the resort, and thanks to 30 people from Atmosphere, Liquid Dumaguete, the Institute for Marine Research (IMR) and Instructor Development Philippines (IDP) 147kg of trash from the riverbed won’t end up in the ocean.
The house reef Dive Against Debris resulted in seven divers finding just 8 small items during a one hour dive - great proof of our constant efforts and it left us plenty of time to enjoy the marine life.
During our beach clean, 22 of us swept the beach adjacent to Atmosphere for 30 minutes on Monday afternoon and gathered 22kg of trash.
We categorised and disposed of all the trash found, and of nearly 2,000 items 77% were some form of plastic.
Let’s keep up the good work – if you see trash whether on land or in the sea, please pick it up and make sure it gets disposed of properly.

Rae and Adam move forward within Atmosphere
With the imminent launch of our private swimming pool suites, new exciting food venues and luxurious beach front, it is time for Atmosphere to widen our horizons and look into new markets. After 4 years of sharing a Resort Manager role, Rae Collins and Adam Detre will separate paths to help Atmosphere grow organically. Adam has changed his role to represent Atmosphere Resorts & Spa as Global Partnership Manager. He will be working to develop Atmosphere’s international brand image in the luxury travel sector, while cultivating key strategic partnerships around the world amongst other things. Although you are bound to still see Adam within the resort in his managerial role, you will have opportunities to see him around the world at various trade shows. Fitness
Athletes love it at Atmosphere
We love sports at Atmosphere and coincidentally this year we have had some elite athletes staying at the resort. We never miss an opportunity to take photos of course!
Ice skating might not be the first thing on your mind when staying at tropical Atmosphere, but we were excited to have British skating champions Zoe Jones and Christopher Boyadji stay with us on their way to the World Championships in Japan.
Mason Caton-Brown is a British professional rugby player, who plays winger and center for Wakefield Trinity in the British Super league. During him and his girlfriend’s is holiday in Atmosphere he made great use of our warrior Gym and personal training service, and also visited ONE International school adjacent to Atmosphere, to join them for mini-rugby!

Dive center news
New faces in the Atmosphere dive team
Frans Paulus is originally from Holland and has been teaching as a diving instructor since 2012. Frans is fortunate to be able to teach in German, Spanish, Dutch and English. Out of the water, Frans enjoys travelling, reading books, watching movies and playing various sports including field hockey, squash, sailing, mountain biking, rock climbing and of course scuba diving!
Ed Gardo Calatcat comes from Bais city on our very own Negros Island. Gardo used to work as a boat crew until, 10 years ago, he accomplished the impressive PADI Open Water to Divemaster in 5 months. He knows the local area like his back pocket and is able to find you the most interesting critters underwater. As to his personal favorites? Nudibranchs and Mandarin fish!
Originally from Mainland China, Layla Fu completed her PADI Instructor at Atmosphere in April and now works as a diving instructor and marketing assistant. Before the Philippines, Layla worked in marketing/PR/events in Shanghai for 9 years for luxury and sports brands including Shanghai Tang and Adidas. Diving has always been her passion and as she speaks Mandarin and English, she is both diving with our guests, and conducting marketing campaigns with a focus on the China market.

At Atmosphere we are proud that our reefs are so healthy and so attainable for both divers and snorkelers. In most places, healthy coral reach to just below the surface and with no sign of coral bleaching. In July, we had award-winning photographer Renee Capozzola visiting us and she took some brilliant photos of our reefs and our very cooperative turtles along the Dauin shoreline and in Apo Island. The past couple of months, we have conducted not one but two PADI Instructor Development Courses and there is still one more to go before the end of the year.
