C. Dayton Riddle IV, ’14 law, was born into a family of lawyers, so practicing law was almost a foregone conclusion. However, it was where he chose to practice that has set him apart. Riddle is now an associate in the Hong Kong office of Harney Westwood & Riegels, a leading offshore law firm with more than 180 lawyers in offices across 12 countries.

AVP for student success hired

Silvia Patricia Rios Husain has been named assistant vice president for student success in the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support. Rios Husain will start Jan. 13 and will partner with university and external stakeholders to advance the retention, timely graduation, career readiness and lifelong employability of students.

Boost your emotional intelligence

Human Resources is offering a workshop to help you raise your emotional intelligence — the ability to understand and manage your own emotions and those of the people around you. People with a high degree of emotional intelligence know what they're feeling, what their emotions mean and how these emotions can affect other people. This free workshop is 10 a.m.-noon Oct. 24 in Suite 101, 1600 Hampton St.
