RECENT CHALLENGING NEWS ABOUT MY HEALTH
When I applied for “long term care” health insurance, I was shocked to be rejected. I thought I would pass with flying colors but my blood work showed markers indicating high risk of “cardiac arrest.” That was a bit of a shock to my heart! But…upon consideration of the alternatives, I came to the amusing conclusion that perhaps cardiac arrest is a one of the best exit strategies a person can have. Much better than cancer or Alzheimer’s, right? Both my mother and grandmother died at 76 1/2. As I just turned 75, perhaps we'll have a celebration if I am blessed to live past 76 1/2!
"What can I learn from this?" is a good phrase I learned from my wonderful chi gong teacher/artist, Calley O'Neil https://www.calleyoneillyoga.com. I've had pause to think more seriously about taking even better care of my health, living each day to the fullest, and realizing that it is wise to focus on completing things. This news made me get more “on purpose” doing what I believe I am meant to do! Preparing the Dragonfly Ranch for sustainability after I “graduate” is the first order of business. (I wouldn’t be averse to your sending a pray my way.)
MY FUNNY FLUKE CALL TO THE WHITE HOUSE
When I was recently struck by a cold, my nose was like a faucet so that I had to insert tissue in my leaky nostrils. Picture me then asking Siri to find the phone number for Social Security. Siri, misunderstanding my request, said “Do you want to call the White House?” I pondered this question as I stared at my phone that was poised to call the White House. Then, with vigor…I pressed YES. When the secretary said I reached the White House, I said, “I’m calling to encourage President Trump to resign.” Very suddenly I heard...silence. Disconnected. Since then, I have given this some thought. I listened to Rachel Maddow’s “Bagman” about the Nixon/Agnew resignations. I believe it would be best for Pence (like Spiro Agnew) to resign first. THEN Trump. Speaker of the House would be in line for president. Could Pence/Trump be promised “no jail time” like Agnew was promised if they agree to resign? It worked for them and maybe could work for our even more corrupt president and and hopefully corrupt enough vice president. If you like this idea, call and then tell your friends! I took the time to carefully read George Conway’s long, brilliantly researched article: “Unfit for Office.” It gave me compassion for Trump who I realize now is severely handicapped by extreme narcissism. I recommend this read.
Let’s all do a lot of praying! I have always said, "Anything that makes us pray can’t be all bad."
CHANTEL’S GOLDEN DRAGONFLY TONIC
- 1 1/2 Handfuls of Fresh Raw Turmeric
- 1/2 Handful of Fresh Raw Ginger
- 10 Medium sized Lemons
- 6-8 Lilikoi'i
- 1/2 Teaspoon of Sea Salt
- 1 Tablespoon of Cinnamon
- 3/4 Cup of Local Honey
- 5 Cups of Filtered or Distilled H2O
*** Optional if you like heat, add 1/2 Teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper.
In a Vitamix put in all these ingredients. Make sure to turn machine t on low and don't go above 2 otherwise you will chop up the lilikoi'i seeds & it will get into your tonic. Wait until you don't hear any more chunks hitting the blade to stop blending. Take a large strainer and pour over your receptacle. Be sure to ring out all of your turmeric & ginger pulp so you don't lose anything! ****If too strong for some, Golden Dragonfly Tonic can absolutely be diluted ♥
This tastes good and was very good for healing my cold!

BLESSED HOLIDAYS
Wishing all of you a grateful, great full Thanksgiving! May you be experiencing vibrant health, happy times with friends and family, and lots of good laughs. I recently watched this Ted Talk that reckons that if we can laugh together, we can have peace. For that reason, I wish to give huge gratitude to Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, Trevor Noah and Jimmy Kimmel! Each of them can take craziness and turn it into humor…that makes such bizarre sense we can laugh at the flabbergasting truth. Kudos!

LAUGHING AND PRAYING
At the very end of The Horse's Mouth by Joyce Cary, the eccentric artist, Gullie Jemson, is laughing as he is dying. The nun attending him says, "At a time like this, Mr Jemson, don't you think you should be praying rather than laughing?" Gullie's response: "It’s the same thing, madam," and proceeded to die.
SPEAKING OF DYING
Our noble Persian kitty, Azzizi, recently made his transition assisted by the vet--with ease and grace--purring as he went. Lucy and Emmie hugged and kissed Azzizi for days as he was fading. Our dear returning German guest, Florian, captured this video of Lucy and Emmie kissing Azzizi--like corn popping!
