Like so many religious and cultural traditions, this one began long ago, marking the 24 days leading up to Christmas. Traditional advent calendars feature windows that open to reveal a poem, chocolate, gift or story.
Whether you're religious or not, Christmas can be a time when regular routines are disrupted, where we meet with friends and loved ones and also a time when we reflect on the year we've just lived and consider what our focus will be for the year ahead.
During this time we want to offer you the opportunity to open 25 individually wrapped gifts, thoughtfully curated by the Washpool team for you to enjoy yourself, to give away or to share during special moments with friends and family.
Advent calendars are intended to be opened one item each day from 1 December to Christmas Day. Each item is wrapped and numbered for that day of the month. Open that number each morning, or evening - create a tradition that works for you!

WORLD HANDWASHING DAY
Today is World Handwashing Day! This year's theme is "Clean Hands for All"
Did you know that globally, 900 million students lack a place to wash their hands at their school?
At Washpool we are proud to be affiliated with the Global Handwashing Organisation. October 15 is a day of advocacy to increase awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives.
To mark this day, we're donating to World Vision to help build handwashing stations in schools. As supporters of Washpool, you also share in our contribution and for that, we thank you.

SECONDS (BARGAIN BAGS)
Back in stock! Seriously folks, these new bars do not belong in seconds!!!
We have a rather tricky situation where our 1kg Bargain Bag (seconds) are in such demand we regularly sell out. If it was any other product we'd increase production and simply make more, but Bargain Bags are made up of seconds, batches made in soap making workshops, ends of lines and experiments (a new scent blend or colour technique).
As we don't make soap on school holidays we sold out yet again recently. Even though we were back in the soap kitchen last Tuesday and made around 100kg of soap, the ends only make up about 9kg. You can see the problem. I need to sell the 91kg of first-grade bars before I will generate more ends.
UNLESS!!!!!!! We happened to finish one supply of Indigo and start another from a different supplier and suddenly we were confronted with colour many times as deep as we were used to. And we all know that Indigo is a dye so subtlety is important.
Never fear. Emily chopped up that deep indigo batch (Lemon Myrtle & Patchouli, by the way) and we set it into a lovely creamy base scented with Australian grown peppermint. Ahhh-maaaz-ing.
And because they don't belong in our existing range they're heading into the seconds. Tragic. While your Bargain Bag might not currently have a huge amount of variety the quality is perfect. Don't hesitate, they won't last.

We take a minimalist approach to handcrafting our soap bars. Wholesome ingredients, purposefully selected. We believe that health comes first and beauty follows. Our clients value authenticity, simplicity and purity.
Wherever possible, we choose to source our ingredients locally, often direct from the growers. When we purchase ingredients from further afield we place great emphasis on using ethical, organic, fair trade and sustainably produced raw ingredients. Our packaging is biodegradable, recycled and recyclable where possible.
Our products include cold pressed edible oils,butters and milks, extracts, infusions, activated and whole botanicals along with clays, honey, fruit and vegetables. Basically, ingredients you can recognise, most of which are edible.
